| | Re Ugh! What Have I done!!! | | I can't even count the number of nutrition theories I've heard over the past few years (or even in this one thread!). One thing's good, then it's evil, then it's good in moderation, then we aren't eating enough of it, or it's only good if it's eaten in conjuction with something else...
I think we should eat everything, and most especially chocolate. In moderation, of course.

| | Re Ugh! What Have I done!!! | | Wormie, I'm sorry the protein bar made you sick. Make sure you tell Sven about it (I've named your trainer Sven )
Does that discount Pippa's theory that you can eat whey?

| | Re Ugh! What Have I done!!! | | No. The whey in a protein bar isn't the same as the whey protein isolate you'll find in protein powder. |

| | Re Ugh! What Have I done!!! | | Do curds really go with whey, or should Ms. Muffet have a nice chianti and some fava beans with her whey instead?

| | Re Ugh! What Have I done!!! | | We used to get whey from the cheese factory (they gave it away) to feed to our pigs. It is sweet and sticky and stinky. And looks just like that yellow liquid in Pippa's picture.

| | Re Ugh! What Have I done!!! | | No - it doesn't conflict with what Pippa Said. This bar had all sorts of stuff in it - whey isolate, whey protein, and a bunch of other icky. Don't know what exactly made me sick but something was very very bad. |

| | Re Ugh! What Have I done!!! | | Wow, if you're not supposed to have milk, I don't think you're supposed to have milk parts either. As in the old chicken nugget commercial: "Parts, just parts!"

| | Re Ugh! What Have I done!!! | | Seriously, problems with dairy which are often diagnosed as lactose intolerance can often be related to intolerance to the protein in milk rather than the lactose, hence the big reaction to whey. That's why drinking Lactaid milk, or using Lactaid enzyme tablets doesn't control the symptoms completely for some people, although amylase could help since it digests protein. Is your trainer wanting you to follow the Body For Life program or something?

| | Re Ugh! What Have I done!!! | | I have lactose intollerance - not milk allergies, and I can generally keep it in control. I use lactaid milk, but I do eat cheese, yogurt, Ice cream etc - I need to just keep it in check. No regular milk, cottage cheese, etc.
I don't know about the Body for Life. We haven't talked that much about it. I have my first session tonight. I think he wants to make sure I'm properly hydrated, cutting down on fats and sugars (though I need some fat), and making sure I have the right "fuel" for an intense workout. I'll know more as we go on. |

| | Re Ugh! What Have I done!!! | | 1st session tonight. Warm up on the eliptical.
Upper body workout w/ weights - chin ups, rows, some pull down thing and curls. Not real heavy weights, but by the last few I didn't think I could finish. Then 40 minutes on the eliptical before belly dancing class Fun and a good workout, but, Man!, did I feel FAT!
Anyway. Sat is shoulders and back. Then the next time will be legs.
It hurt a lot while I was working, but I recovered pretty quickly. Suprisingly my legs hurt, not my arms. |

| | Re Ugh! What Have I done!!! | | If you need a protein supplement this may work: Rice Protein
We should be getting 1 gram of protein for every pound of your lean body mass so you don't lose so much muscle while dieting. Probably between 100-125 grams for most of us. That is a lot and supplements help you reach that minimum.

Rice protein probably tastes like shiz so maybe you should go with the Camel Ice Cream.

| | Re Ugh! What Have I done!!! | | Is it kosher?
Hhm - camels have split hooves - do they chew cud? Is camel kosher? I don't think camel milk is kosher unles camels are kosher, but I'm not sure.

| | Re Ugh! What Have I done!!! | | Nope. Camels don't have true split hooves, but instead have sorta split toes which spread really wide to make walking on sand easier. Camels are not kosher because of the toe thing.
And btw, when do we get pictures? Of Sven, I mean? | |
