| | First of all, I don’t have anything against the people who resolve to lose weight and work out. Good for them! And I genuinely hope they are able to stick with it and lose the weight they want and get into the shape that they desire. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to exercise, eat right, and get healthy. More power to you. That being said though, I do need to rant a little. I hate all the extra people in the gym now. I hate it knowing that, statistically, the majority of them will be gone within a couple of months. If they were going to stick around, it would be better. But knowing that most of them won’t, it drives me nuts. The locker room and machines in the gym are packed, or at least double what it was before the first of the year. They use people’s “usual” machines, which shuffles everybody around. Eventually, someone doesn’t get the type of machine they want, which makes people cranky. They take the “regular’s” lockers, shuffling us around in the locker room as well. And unless you get there before them, they won’t even know it, meaning they’ll just stay there (but possibly only for a month or so) and you’re the one trying to find a new locker. They don’t know the locker room etiquette. The locker room is set up in multiple horseshoe shapes, each with a round bench in the center. Most horseshoes have two or three people in them, spaced out enough to give everybody the room they need to get dressed. Obviously with more people, there is less space. No biggie, that’s to be expected. But if there is an entire wall of lockers open, don’t put your stuff practically right on top of mine. We both need room to get our clothes situated and change. We can’t do this when we’re right on top of each other. And then there’s the benches. It’s the people who put alltheir stuff on the bench when they go to work out that annoy me the most. Everybody else puts their stuff along the lockers so there’s room to move around, and people can use the bench when they need to, but there are occasionally one or two people who don’t do this. They leave their stuff on the bench so that nobody can use it. Argh! That’s all I’ve got right now. I’ve had time to calm down since working out this morning, but I’m sure I’ll get riled up again next week. Exciting. I already don’t exactly look forward to getting up early to work out three days a week, and this sure doesn’t help it. But at least I’m sticking with it, and it’ll be worth all the frustrations if people stick around long enough to learn the way things work, and are able to reach their goals. They may annoy me, but I’m rooting for them to beat the odds.

| | For my own sake, I hope so! But for them, I really do hope people are able to stick with it. But if they could stick with it at a different gym, that would be even better!

| | You need to go post in the O/C thread again.
Seriously, the resolutionists (your mother included, although I am an on-again off-again gym goer so I think I get special dispensation) are a problem. But part of it is that the weather's not so nice and people have more time on their hands after the holidays are over.
But wormie's right. The ones who won't stick around will be gone soon enough, and the ones who will become regulars will learn some manners.

| | I'm not going back to the gym until after I have my ablation done. So I won't be bothering you until February. |

| | I'm too embarrassed to go to the gym right now. I've been working out at home. So, don't worry about me, either.

| | I really do hope some (okay, okay…most) of them are gone soon. Granted, it’s not like it’s so packed in the morning that you can’t get anything done, and it’s still no where near as bad as it is in the evenings, but it’s already driving me nuts. I think it’s the people in the locker room that bug me the most. The new people mostly use the treadmills/bikes/elipticals, which only effects me one day a week since the rest of the time we’re on the weight machines. Mostly, it’s in the locker room that all the people bug me. It’s hard to get a blow dryer (they’re provided) and counter space is scarce. And I’ll tell you right now, if someone takes my shower stall, it won’t be pretty.

I go and I'm working out with weights and all I see is fat arms. It's rather horrifying. I work hard and I'm having fun though. I know I'll see results if I keep at it, and I do laugh a lot throughout my workout, but Gosh I look fat in those mirrors. |

I have noticed a lot more of the "macho" guys hanging out tho. I don't know where they were before Christmas.

| | After work and in the evenings is crazy! The best time would be the middle of the day, but it's just not feasible. The mornings really are our best choice, but I hate all the extra people all of a sudden! I can't even imagine how bad it is now in the afternoons, I'm sure there are extra people then as well.

| | In the evening? That would be the absolute worse time for us to go. We used to go then, but it takes at least twice as long to get through our workout. We go between six and seven in the morning. Sometimes earlier if I have to go into work early.

| | This reminds me to thank Lisa for letting me use her gym. She keeps it exclusive to her and me.
I really hope no one takes your shower. Nothing worse than naked embarrassed ladies!

| | I have work out on my mental list, but not on my resolution list. I can't start until the knee is completely better though, which sucks. But that said, we have a BowFlex with Lat Bar, Leg thingie and Row function and a Treadmill at the house, so no gym here. |

| | That would be so nice to have. We have a treadmill, but I really hate running on it, so haven't since we inherited it. I really should start though.

| | I love the BowFlex. well worth the money (19 bucks a month for two years). Like the newer ones even better - lower profile. | | |
