| | It was a really, really, terrible day. I had called my mother to see if she wanted me to pick up dinner at Costco. She was beyond frazzled because my dog had crapped all over the house. She said find something, but nothing she had to fuss with because she had already done enough after coming home to that mess. That was strike one.
Strike two was the pharmacy incident.
Strike three was me going to the part of Costco where they make pizzas. I ordered a pizza for the family, knowing that it would not satisfy my father. I also ordered him something to go... I don't remember what. Maybe it was Pastrami. Something old fashioned that he doesn't get around us. I thought it would be a treat. They handed me whatever I ordered on a plate with a pickle, and the pizza in a box. I said this won't do, and asked to have the plate put inside a box. They refused, saying it would cost too much. I offered to pay for the box. They refused again. I asked if I could have some FREAKING TIN FOIL to put around it. They told me to go back to the window where I ordered it to see if they had anything. They told me they had nothing. I said "I see the hotdog rolls come in bags. Give me one of those, please" through my clenched teeth. They refused. They would not open a package only to give me the wrapper. They suggested I go near customer service, where I could find a bag, like you put raw meat into.
In front of customer service, a ton of employees were standing around doing nothing. One said to me, "whoa, she looks angry!" (Yes, third person, but looking at me!) I explained that I was, and all I wanted was to buy something they wouldn't sell me, and to get "a fucking box or bag or something to put my food in." He laughed. "Please just give me a bag, and I will go home."
That's the last time I went to Costco. I haven't followed up with any managers. I think that was one. I'm not sure he could have calmed me down at that point. I was the crazy angry lady by then. I think he would have been smart to give me his card, or someone's card, and said "if you find you'd like to talk about something that went wrong today, let us know." or something like that...
Then I went home to my mother who was still cleaning dog crap, my father who complained about how awful his food was, and had to explain to my mother why I didn't get the Alli she was longing so desperately for.
Even if the pharmacist was rude, his point sunk in, and my mother and I agreed that we didn't want something that would make us do that and that it seems to be a pill that only helps you if you can diet and exercise. Since neither of us had the will to do that, the pill would just be an added expense and embarassment.
So that's the full story of crappy Costco customer service, and the crap-in-your-pants suppliment.
I think the dog is a better deterrant for over-eating anyway. It was damn hard to choke down that pizza. Even after the mess was cleaned, its odor was present for several hours.

| | BTW, I can relate to the earlier comments about missing Phen-Fen. My mother and I both used it. She only let me use one half of it... I don't know if it was Phen or Fen. Then the whole heart scare, and she stopped using it, and soon it was off the market.
I did lose weight taking half of it, though. She lost much more, but she also had more to lose. I am not sure how old I was... 14, 15, or 16...
We certainly didn't think it was dangerous at the time. I wish it wasn't, because I'd love to have a magic bullet now! |

| | That sounds like one heck of a suck-a$$ day. I can see why you haven't been back to Costco!

| | Margaret, that sucks! I'm so sorry that happened to you - the guy is obviously a jerk. and has a very small penis. Don't forget that bit.
I've been avoiding this thread. My thyroid went veering out of control again - I spent the summer wearing sweaters. And not losing weight. The good news is I didn't gain, the really bad news is that even with exercising and trying to stick to eating healthier foods, I am still stuck with my 5 pound weight loss.
The even better news is that my doc thinks he's on the right track with my current dose - just in time for the hot weather. No sweaters for me! |

| | Keep it up, Amy.
Margaret that should be reported and was completely uncalled for.

| | Boo-hiss to Costco for hiring such a jerk!
I'm chicken....I bought a month's worth of Alli and have been afraid to try it (figuring I'd let other people be guinea pigs first...)
So I've been watching this thread with interest.
Congrats to Amy, Lynn, and Wormie! Losing weight takes willpower and determination, with or without Alli.
Margaret, if you want to try Alli without dealing with that creep, I'm sure Costco.com would sell it at the same low price. |
