I'm back at it

Actually we are all at it in my house. Walking that is. Our church decided to sponsor a project during Lent--a walk to Jerusalem (and back!). The idea was that we would sign up, and report our miles walked each week. Two ladies who are part of the Parish Nurse Ministry tally and on a world map plot the progress. Week one we got somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic!!

So I have been doing about 1 mile a day, without any extra walking. Yesterday I plotted a 2 mile course, and did that again today!!

My husband has been doing his regular 4 mile course, but yesterday plotted a 7 mile course. He did it 2 times yesterday!! He is going to walk to Jerusalem all by himself at this rate!!

Missy is doing it too. They allow 20 minutes of an aerobic type exercise to count as a mile. So her gym time is well spent. She also walks with me.

Remember when we walked to the Grand Canyon here? That was an interesting trip.

I'm doing the "weight loss" program on the treadmill 3x week. 40+ minutes, the program makes it go on an incline and regulates the speed up and down pretty significantly. I think 40 minutes gets me about 2.6 miles. Then doing weights for about 30 minutes. I can tell the difference.

I'm getting fatter and fatter.
Too tired and stressed out to exercise, and not disciplined enough to control bad food choices. I WILL get back on track - you two are inspirations!

I have only been back to the gym sporadically since I broke my arm. But I'll be back to it, I can't stay away for long. I've managed to maintain my weight so I'm pleased about that. Now if I could just lose those last 10 pounds! I've been working on them for what like 6 years now? Maybe 10, my baby is 10 now.

I lost 8 pounds when I was sick 2 weeks ago. I thought for sure I would gain them back by now. So far I haven't.

It is raining buckets now, and I think tomorrow too. I will have to do my miles on the bike.

Get this.....I walked 3 miles today.. 3 MILES. Me!!!!! I walked 2 yesterday, but adding that 3rd mile is huge for me.

I've not been excercising, but I have cut my carbs and sweets. So far it's been working, but I still have about 25 more to lose to reach my goal.

So now I feel compelled to post. I just did another 3 miles. It is dark, and I won't go out alone, so my son who is home on spring break went with me. Not willingly, but he went!! Supposed to rain tomorrow, so I don't know if I'll be able to get out.

On another note, my husband is back doing 7-9 miles a night. He passed us tonight. He is a maniac.

Another 3 today. I did it in 5 minutes less time too. The weather has been so sucky that I haven't been able to get out. Today it is brisk and windy, and just perfect for walking.
I am considering going out again today, it all depends on my hip, it doesn't hurt nearly as much as when I started this, so but I don't want to push it.
We'll see.

It is getting harder--My knee (the one I had surgery on many years ago) is really bothering me, so the calf and my foot on the same leg have decided to join the aching party. I walked again today, and I thought I was so much slower, but it was still about the same time out.
So that is 3 miles again.

Angie - don't you have a pool? In the summer you can do water exercises that will be easier on your joints.

Yes, I know Wormie. I will do a water aerobic type routine. But I really am enjoying the walk. It is interesting, while I am walking, my foot hurts but not terribly. It is when I stop that all the pain starts.

I did another 3 today. My husband walked 11 miles yesterday. People around town are starting to talk about us. He walked to the bank, then wound up at another shoe store to buy his sneakers. He is out now again.

Angie, you might want to check into some kind of othodics or supports, and definitely make sure you have really good shoes AND socks! The more cushion between your joints and the ground, the better.

I bought some double thickness wicking socks back when I did the Avon walk and they are still my favourite socks for walking. I really need to get some more!!!
