I know, I know. Seems I'm always complaining about SOMETHING. Now it's probably the mold and other stuff starting to come out of the ground...I'm sneezing, wheezing, and just generally stuffed up.

I love the warmer weather. I really really do.

But I hate getting allergy shots. And this is "year 5" which means I should be done in December with the darn things...I just can't see how I will be able to survive if I'm this miserable, it's still early in the season (forget August any more, when the ragweek blooms, I'm out for the count), and I DON'T get them.

Allegedly at that point, I'm "cured". Many allergists have you do shot therapy for only 3 years, mine does it for five. In December I hit my 5 year anniversary.

I spoke to the nurse yesterday and she said to make an appt and talk to the doc after ragweed season (probably not until October or so)...I told her I was concerned because I started feeling like a coke head that morning and SURPRISE! that's when the trees and grasses started up.

Coincidence? Me thinks not.

Astelin and acupuncture.

Not kidding.

Sean just tried the Astelin and it didn't do a *thing* for him, poor guy. It was terrible.

We also tried a combo of Veramyst and Xyzal and that worked on all the allergies wonderfully. In fact, it seems like just the Veramyst alone is doing the job, because he's out of the Xyzal. The Xyzal is a new formulation of Zyrtec, it's only the active ingredients and not the inactive from regular Zyrtec, which is what most people had problems with.

I'm actually thinking about acupuncture. I mean, if I get shots every two weeks, how much worse can a dozen needles stuck in at the same time be.

Of course, when I really start thinking about it in those terms, it gives me the total heebie-jeebies and I start thinking "panic attack".

Bob has had acupuncture twice for his allergies. It's a series that lasts about 6 weeks and so far, he's been much better for 4-5 years afterwards. His allergies don't completely go away, but they are so much better he can manage with flonase and the occasional zyrtec. Before, nothing really helped

Lynn, I've had allergy shots, and I've had acupuncture (although not for allergies). The shots are WAY WAY WAY worse than the acupuncture.

I wouldn't shy away from accupressure, but I would never let a doctor do it on my scalp again.

Lynn - the acupuncture needles are MUCH thinner than injection needles. No comparison.

Think of it less of "going into" than "sitting on top of" - they barely go in, really. And I am a total needle-phobe.
