Yeah, I finally broke down and got out the sea salt and iodine. I hate squirting warm salt water up my nose, and I hate antibiotics even more. So, here's hoping. The iodine was a little addition from a long ago ENT. After you do your nose, you gargle with the rest. Good luck to me.

Yikes!! I feel for you Helen. I hate taking antibiotics too, and I usually suffer way too long with the sinus infection. A summer infection is the worst. Good luck.

Got the sinuses tamed a little, and forgot to keep up with my inhaler. Now, it's down in my chest. Zithromax bums me out so much, and I'm guessing that's what I'll end up with tommorow am at the walkin clinic.

Think I'll order some hot and sour soup tomorrow, as a backup. I had spicy Indian food for supper, but it's not quite the same.

Did it again. Took the pill, then looked up side effects. Usually takes a couple doses of zithromax to make me depressed. Avelox did it within hours. So, I looked it up and some possible side effects are tendonitis and suicidal thoughts, plus dizziness. So, I shouldn't drive myself anywhere for ten days. I think I'll go back to bed, now.

I think you need to talk to your doctor before you take another pill. There are plenty of perfectly good antibiotics without that problem.

I'll catch him on Monday. In the mean time, I'm not taking any more of these one-a-day gut bombs. This is why I hate waiting too long to go to the clinic near me. The good, conservative doc who's known us for years only works Mon-Wed. If I can't get into my own doc, I'll be first in line on Monday morning for the good clinic doc. Why did I get taken in by:"But this is better than Zithromax, and it's been around for five years! As if that's a long time.

Around here, after hours callers are usually advised to go to the nearest emergency room. I'm sure the emerg docs are just wild with joy over that. It's because OHIP covers emergency visits, you see. But doesn't pay the docs for phone calls, letters to workplaces or schools, etc., only office visits. And the visits are still "capped", so after so many the docs are working for nothing. Everybody loves to work for nothing, right?

FDA Mandates Black Box Warning for Some Antibiotics

Another reason to avoid this drug: a risk of tendon rupture, during or after a course of the med, up to four times as high as normal, especially in over 60's, which would be me.
