Hi. Stupid question for you on the board. Do you think Extra sugar free gum can make your teeth sensitive?
I have been trying sensitive toothpaste, recently had a dental appointment (in the last couple of weeks) and the dentist didn't really have any concerns.
He said to try the sensitive toothpaste (which I have done for about the past 3 months) and hopefully it would get better. But, all in all, it seems to be about the same.
I cannot think of anything really different besides chewing a lot of sugar free gum during the day at work (like maybe 6- 8 sticks for roughly 20 - 40 minutes a pop.)
What are you thoughts?

Gum (regular or sugar free) could be encouraging acid production in your mouth.
I would try ACT rinse too, it builds enamel which could help with the sensitive teeth.

I get super-sensitive teeth when I whiten my teeth. Are you using any whitening products? |

I tried this a long time ago, briefly. I noticed sensitivity starting up and immediately stopped using it. My teeth went back to normal (no sensitivity) and suddenly in the past 4 - 6 months it has started back up, but I haven't tried any more whitening products (albeit I so want to!!!)

Missy was using Listerine, and it caused too much acid in her mouth. She switched to the Crest mouthrinse, and it seemed to have helped. If I remember correctly, when she used ACT she felt it was making her teeth darker. Hopefully she will chime in soon since she did have issues with this.

I had loss of enamel from 14 years of braces, that's why my dentist had me using it. My teeth got less sensitive with ACT, but the taste wasn't my favorite by any means.

We have been using the Crest Pro Health toothpaste and mouthwash. I always thought Crest was pretty good. But, I did not think it did not help the enamel on the teeth get stronger or stay strong.
