Gallstones/Gallbladder

I have to say that this is one of the worst surgeries out there.

I had to have my gallbladder removed Tuesday and vicodan (sp) doesn't cut the pain. I am finally more mobile. My hubby brought upstairs the laptop so that I could interact with the world.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Fortunately, it was a laproscopic procedure.

Re Gallstones/Gallbladder

Having had two abdominal surgeries (c-section, appendix), I have to say the appendix was way more painful and recovery was longer.

Take it easy, lots of rest and make your family wait on you hand and foot!

Re Gallstones/Gallbladder

Lynn, I agree with the c-section vs. other surgery. I joked with the hubster that I would have had 10 more c-sections compared to this one.

Yeah, but then you have the residual 18+ years of pain

Oh, ouch! I went through this with a former SO - he was miserable the first few days. I hope you recover quickly.

Re Gallstones/Gallbladder

Ouch -- eek. I am sorry you are in pain. I too am right there with the c-sections--(x2 here). I had the big H--not so much pain as discomfort.

Glad it was the scope, hope you are better soon.

Wow! I'm sorry you are in such pain When I had it done, I was no more sore than after having had a baby (you know how your stomach muscles are sore from pushing?) I was back at work a couple of days later.

Ouch, sorry to hear this! My SIL had the same thing done last year and was sore but not in tons of pain. I wonder why you're hurting so much?

Re Gallstones/Gallbladder

thank you everyone. I appreciate it. I am getting better. For some reason, I find that I am now getting that carbod dioxide bubble up in the top right shoulder blade/coller bone area. It hurts to breathe shallow, deep or any way.

The pain in the stomach area is starting to taper off some. Move weird though, yeouch.

I am guessing that because I had multiple stones they had to break them down and move the tools around alot. I have a lot of bruising by my belly button and the spot just between the breast by the diaphram area has a big depression in the skin. It's kind of wild.

But, I took a shower yesterday, feel a bit more human. I expect to head back to work Monday. I went in a car last night for the first time since surgery and oh my, I felt every bump, turn and slight correction while driving.

Re Gallstones/Gallbladder

Kim,
When my daughter had her ovary surgery, laprocopically, the shoulder issue came up too. Evidently they fill the abdomen full of gas to separate the organs. Now as you recuperate the gas has to work its way out and the shoulder is a favorite spot for it to linger a bit.
