| | Darn, I want to join in! I don't have a recent photo of just my face, though. Maybe I'll take one.

| | Reading through these posts - and seeing Sara's alterations - has been a kick! I concur with the group consensus on Lynne, Cindy, Margaret, and Janice. Curly/wavy hair is much easier to take care of when short - it's been alternately a curse and blessing for years with me.
When I was a teen, I desperately wanted hair like Margaret's. I slept with my hair rolled on juice cans (or rather tried to sleep) or ironed it (without the steam setting). In my 20's, I realized that no amount of wishing would get me straight hair, so I tried working with the curl. Now, I love my hair. It's cut in layers, I spend 3 minutes max on it each morning, and I don't have to think about it again until the next morning. The front is a bit shorter than the back so I can tuck it behind my ears - I hate hair falling in my face. After a quick shampoo every morning, I use Andrea's trick of using conditioner as a leave-in treatment. My hair isn't as thick as hers, so I use a pea-sized glob of Biolage conditioner for color-treated hair. I wrap a towel around it to soak up as much water as possible while I get dressed and rush through my make-up (Shane is pounding on the door by this time, so I have to hurry) and then blow dry just my bangs. Like Cindy, I'll never give up my bangs. Then, I use the blow dryer from underneath on the rest of my hair, using my fingers to lift and separate, and once most of the moisture is gone, I use a curling gel to scrunch and define the curls. It's very quick, 3 minutes or less, and I don't even have to use hairspray.
My hair is (or was)naturally medium brown, but I'm using a Light Golden Brown to bring out the red highlights. I kind of like being a redhead . . . indoors it looks brown, but I get out in the sun and wow! I'm using Feria right now - the color has tremendous staying power.
I'll try to post a head shot of me. I've cropped it as much as I can and it's kind of blurry, but it shows what my hair looks like after a long hard day.

| | OK, FINALLY have time to take a good look at all the mes.
I agree with you guys that Cindy #3 in the second set looks pretty darn good. And actually, that's sort of what my hair looks like now. If you just tame the curl down a bit, take out the layers, and add bangs, that's about what it looks like (that, and it's dark brown).
The thing with all the bang-less styles is that they wouldn't look as good on me as they do here. Sara attached all the hair styles to the bottom of my bangs. You'd have to move all those styles up to the top of my picture to see what they'd really look like on me. Ugh, too much forehead.
This is fun!
Will be back later to analyze everyone else's.
Cindy

Short and Sleek--definitely. Plays up your eyes.
You have great features.
I think spiky bangs would look great on you too.

| | I'll concur with the short sleek Sara....and I was wondering how you got that lovely swan-like neck (actually, it sort of freaked me out at first, I'm glad you mentioned that you had to take quite a bit out )
I was going to try to get one posted last night, but the night was not cooperative. This is so much fun, I will have to get the digi out and have the little boys take a shot of me this afternoon when they get home.
Since I'm ready for a cut (it's THAT time of the month... I don't usually suffer from the other maladies, just "it's time to get my hair cut" because it grows so fast!) timing is perfect!

If it were only that easy.

Ya know, it's kinda funny. Read back through the posts. None of us want to get rid of our own lengths, but we don't think twice about recommending that option to everyone else.
Everyone likes the shorter styles.... on everyone else.

| | Deb,
I tried using that photo. It's too far in profile and won't work.
Do you have another one that's full face? Or, can you snap a new one? Don't worry about the size. I can resize it.
Sara

Another funny thing...
I showed my pictures to several people who see me on a daily basis. None of them liked the short styles. Especially Chip. He started whimpering.
I suppose it all comes down to what you're used to seeing. If you're not used to short, it's going to be hard to imagine.
Sara
Still contemplating. Some sort of a change is planned for February.

| | We could always wear our hair up, in some kind of fashion, everyday for a month. Allow people to get used to seeing necks. THEN show the short styles and ask again.

| | The idea of cutting my hair is growing on me a bit. I'm not quite ready to chop it all off, but I am definitely thinking about it.
If anyone does go for the old heave-ho, you might want to consider donating your hair. In the Boston area Dana Farber Cancer Institute collects donated hair from salons. Nationally you can donate through Locks For Love. I think you need to cut about 8 inches off to donate.

| | OK, here is a self portrait. I just took it a few minutes ago. I have my bangs up in a little pony tail as I am growing them out and I was sick of them falling into my face. I'm thinking of having my hair layered. The photo on my Epinions profile is from May and I have bangs in that one.

| | Note, I am smiling in that photo. Is that the smile of someone whose backpain is mostly gone? Is that the smile of someone who has gotten in over 14 k in steps so far? I think so! Boy, I really notice the asymmetry in my features when I take a photo as opposed to when I merely look in the mirror. I had just gotten my hair cut in this one, and I have bangs. I think I look better with bangs, but maybe longer layered ones would be good.
Here is my epinions profile shot:

| | Amy,
I'll be out most of the day and evening so I might not be able to get to your "do" today. But, I promise I'll get to it by tomorrow.
Meanwhile, all you people feel free to offer your suggestions.

| | Okay, I'm no beauty expert, but here's my thought....Amy, I think you'd look good in "Andrea" hair....loose, long curls, maybe a little layered.

Lynne - who is an expert at something. Surely. Just haven't figured out exactly what yet. |

| | Okay, I'm comin' late to the party - what else is new?
I took this picture this morning. Actually Sean took it for me: http://www.thefreebielady.com/myhair.jpg
(I've not yet figured out how to reduce the size of a photo beside cropping, so I'll just provide the link.)
Of course, I actually prefer this picture - wouldn't you: http://www.thefreebielady.com/gorgeous.jpg
Believe it or not, I have totally straight hair. The last few years -since my first pregnancy, apparently it did something to my hair - I have had a slight wave around both temples. Other than that, totally straight. I do have a cowlick at both top corners of my forehead, which is why my combed-back bangs do that weird wispy thing at the part.
But I found that asking for a "face-framing" cut, with long layers, adds a tremendous amount of body and curl - relatively speaking, that is, for someone with stick-straight hair. It's so unbelievable, it's almost like they handed me a new head of hair!

Okay, my turn. I took this picture this a.m. before I spent the day running my fingers through my mane in total frustration (I know, I know, it's not Wednesday)
My hair is actually a lot lighter than this; I was going to ask if I could be a brunette for a day (Dan has this thing about brunettes)....it's pretty dark in the photo.
Have at me.

Lynn, I like your hair the way it is!
I liked some of those hairstyles, especially the shorter ones. John just doesn't like short hair--what is it with men? Some of the long flowing ones look nice, but my hair is kind of flat and doesn't flow like that.
