| | I'm declaring a "Junk Food Free Week" - will anyone join me? | | I've been bad this week. I mean really, really bad the first half of the week. Chocolate candy and Moose Tracks ice cream galore. I've been just terribly out of control - and I don't even have PMS to blame! (Not unless I can stretch it out by about 2.5 weeks! )
So, I am declaring next week a junk food free week for myself. Absolutely no cookies, candy, ice cream, potato chips or even soda for me. Not to deprive myself of pleasure, which leads to even worse binges than what I've done this week, but to prove to myself that I can control what I put in my mouth. That I don't have to eat chocolate to feel good. To start a habit of reduction in sweets and fat junky stuff.
So will anyone join me? I'm planning this to be Sunday through Saturday. And that doesn't mean that the following Sunday we can all eat a gallon of ice cream and a bag of Hersheys Kisses!

| | I was thinking 12:01 am Sunday.
Don't know if I can do it or be in the mood for it. Hubby wrecked our only car about an hour ago. Most likely they will total it out and with a $500 deductible, we'll be lucky to get $100 bucks out of it. Blast it all, I was supposed to get a car for ME with our tax refund, but nooooooo, now we have to buy another car to replace the Escort. If it's not one thing it's another, I don't think we'll ever get out of the hole almost-but-not-quite making it and having semi-nice things instead of junk. I'm just sick and tired of everything that has anything to do with $ right and I just want to crawl into a hole and make it all GO AWAY.
Sorry to be such a downer, I'm just mad and sick at heart right now.
And yes, Andrea, I already thought about "The Contest", too.

| | Sure, I'll play. Just let me crank those carrot chips through the dehydrator and go buy another 10 lbs of apples to dry while I'm at it.
It's so much easier to stay away from the junk food when you can make the healthy stuff look bad for you.

| | Oh Melanie. I'm so sorry to hear about the car. But, thankfully, it sounds like hubby wasn't hurt. Unless, of course, you hurt him when you heard the news.
Back to the challenge. No junk food. Yeah. I can do that. Been doing that for months. Count me in.

| | Thanks guys, ya make a person feel better!
No, thankfully, hubby was not hurt. He was sitting at a stop sign, looked both ways, pulled out and WHAM there was a car coming across that "wasn't there" two seconds before. I didn't get mad at him, I know that it's a dangerous intersection. There have been oodles of wrecks there. It's only about a hundred yards or so from our front door, so I know! It's a two way stop, and it NEEDS to be a 4 way stop.
I guess I really need to go ahead and do this challenge whether I'm depressed or not. I'd probably eat my weight and then some in junk if I don't take up my own challenge!
Sunday through Saturday. Let's chant the "Bob" chant (sort of):
"Can we do it?"
"Yes, we can!"

| | Oh and I just re-read Melanie's first edict: Quote: |
Absolutely no cookies, candy, ice cream, potato chips or even soda for me.
| Sorry, but I absolutely cannot go without my DIET mountain dew in the a.m. It's my "coffee".
Other than that (and the popcorn question, which is yet to be determined ), I'm in.
Lynn

| | LOL, you guys are funny!
Okay, I think each person will have to decide for themselves what constitutes "junk food". For me, it will be:
Soda
Cookies
Candy (including little hard candies - full of sugar, ya know)
Any form of chocolate, including cocoa
Ice cream (I finished it last night, thank goodness!)
Junk masquerading as "healthy" i.e. granola bars and their ilk, full of sugars, flavor additives, chemicals and chocolate chips
Pop tarts
If I were working and going out for lunch, the list would most likely include all fast food - but I'm lucky enough not to have to worry about that!
Popcorn? Well, I don't eat much popcorn and don't have any in the house right now. But I'd have to strike it if I did have access to it - unless it were air popped with no butter! And let's face it - popcorn with no butter? What's the point!
Alright Lynne, we'll let ya have your Diet Mt. Dew. Personally, I think it's worse than drinking regular sugar drinks. I'm one of those that that believes natural is better for you in the long run. I don't use margarine or fake sweeteners. But that's up to you!
Everyone ready? I'll come in and play cheerleader tomorrow, but it will be sometime after lunch, since I have chuch services in the morning.
Good luck, and may the force be with you!
