| | Want to play with a demonstration product? | | I am working on a script that allows you to create your own private forum and usergroup.
It's not necessarily going to be used here. But, I need real people to test and debug the code. Y'all generally like yelling at me about bugs; so I figured this would be a good beta site.
Premium Users will have the ability to create their own private forum. It will have an associated public usergroup. You, as the forum creater, will be that usergroup leader.
People who wish to join the group will submit a join request, which you can either approve or deny. The forum will be hidden to everybody except members of that group and admins.
This system probably has bugs out the wazzoo at first. So, take it easy on me
If you want your own forum, and you are a premium member, click this link: http://www.eaforums.com/forums/hideaway.php?do=create

| | Re Want to play with a demonstration product? | | Hypotheticals:
1) someone posts something in my hideaway that doesn't personally bother me, but bothers someone else. She hits "report post." To whom does the report go?
2) I post something in my hideaway that someone finds offensive and that person hits "report post." To whom does the report go?
3) Are the usage rules different in hideaways than in the regular site? e.g., can we debate each other using personal attacks ("Poopy-head!") and other techniques not allowed in the Symposium?
(I know you may not keep private hideaways on eaforums, but maybe the technical and usage questions are important for others who run moderated bulletin boards - better to consider how these affect the site rules ahead of time than get bitten in the butt later, eh?)

| | Re Want to play with a demonstration product? | | Just realized that when I click New Posts, the posts in the hideaway come with those nifty-neato checkboxes that you Admin types already see, along with the mod options on the bottom. All boxes greyed out except the mjhideaway ones. Mad cool.

| | Re Want to play with a demonstration product? | | Much like the guy with the huge diesel Ford 350, who pretends he's powerful when he's really compensating for his small... um, shoe size. It looks cool, but I know I ain't got much authority to back it up

| | Re Want to play with a demonstration product? | | Amy, is threr a reason there are no Pms sent when you are accepted or rejected from a forum?
And MJ and I did some testing. You can let someone in and then boot them out wiht no problems.
