Phone messages from a preschooler | | This past weekend my parents took my son with them on vacation. They went up to Traverse City and Mackinac Island, doing the color tour as well as visiting some relatives and spending a lot of time in the pool.
I was pretty sure he was going to be spoiled all weekend. When we said good-bye to him, he was sitting high in the back of their mini-van. They had a DVD player with a couple of DVDs for him. There was a cooler filled with juice boxes, cookies, and snacks under his feet and a toy box on the floor in the seat next to him. He also had blankets and pillows (as if!).
(Have I mentioned that my son is my parents' only grandchild?)
So it was rather amusing to get the message on our answering machine from him:
"Hi Momma and daddy! It's me, <<insert name here>>. I wish I were with you. I want to come home safely to you. Pray for me all the time that I'll come home safely."
He then proceeded to tell us about swimming, making friends, going on a buggy ride, visiting his aunt, and riding a boat.
Somehow, I didn't think it necessary that we drive up and rescue him.
