I am tinkering with a new programming book  and got my first example program to work. When it ran for the first time, I said "cool beans!".
Katie has been looking for beans ever since. She wants pinto beans with ham and warm cornbread. NOW.

 I say "cool beans" all the time! When I first came to NYC, coworkers figured it was another weird Buffalo quirk.

I say cool beans all the time too. My young co-workers all say it too. Quite honestly, I don't even know where the phrase originated. |

I have some lima beans cooked with with ham bones here, and can whip up some corn bread (or even better, hush puppies) in no time. When are arriving?

I'm impressed that you have a kid who not only will eat beans but requests them.
Mine would never touch them unless they were refried and piled on top of nachos.
Ummmm nachos. Amy it's 8 am and I'm thinking about nachos. I owe you one.

Cool beans?
Never heard the expression.
Have heard and used the expression "hot sh#t," but I'm a neanderthal.
Think "cool beans" may have been derived from that, as a more civilized alternative.
