Talking True Story Thread

This is my true story of the month:

I donated a bunch of promotional products (my trade du life) to the teachers "store" in Dan's class. (The kids earn points and once every two weeks can spend the points on little things that she's bought for them.) Bear in mind that while the general public might think that many of things I donated are nifty, I've been doing this for 15 years and am drowning in promotional products. I bring more than I'd like home for my kids and whatnot....

Anyway, one of the things I donated was 10 or so little heart shaped stress guys with hands and feet. Cute product, but junked up, in my opinion, by my parent company's logo and phone number (I hate their logo, I've got my own).

What do you think my Dan chooses to spend two weeks worth of points on? You got it. The heart guy, the same damn thing I could have brought him home for "free".

And his reason for buying it? To give it to me so I could put it on my eMac in my office. "Here, Mommy, I bought this for you!!"

I now have to treasure for life the thing that I was trying to get rid of!

I have a Furby on top of my monitor. He talked too much so I pulled his batteries. He's green and black lepord looking.

I also have, taped to the top of the monitor and covering the top third of my screen, which just happens to include most of my bars, a drawing/mask/snowflake thing that Courtney made just for me. So I peek underneath when I need to do anything.

You ought to see the area around my desk by the end of the year. Kids bring me stuffed animals for Halloween, stuffed animals for Christmas, stuffed animals for Valentine's day, and stuffed animals for no reason. One girl this year brought me a "welcome back" stuffed animal when I was out for the 3-day walk!

And you have to keep them for at least two years, because when they come back to visit, that's the first thing they ask about. Sometimes the people asking aren't even the ones who gave them to you. But if I kept all the animals I got in my only-five-year teaching career, I could open a stuffed zoo!

Not that I'm complaining. It's nice to feel loved!
