No Trick or Treating for you!

I feel so bad! Zachary caught a bug and his fever spiked to 105 two nights ago. Yesterday his temperature hovered around 103, coming down with alternating doses of tylenol and motrin. This morning, he woke up with 101, which means that it is going to spike in the early afternoon again (as seems to be the pattern.)

He has to miss his school party. I am the homeroom mom and have been preparing things for the kids all week, and now he cant even be at the party. And worse, he cant go trick or treating tonight. (The temperatures are freezing out there! What happened to fall?)

I told him that if he gets better for the weekend, we can go to the Fright Fest at Six Flags. He is obviously, very upset that he has to miss Halloween. Anyone have any ideas to help make him feel better about it? I know he can still wear his costume and help hand out candy (if he is up to it - seems by early evenings he doesnt want to move off the couch.) Of course, that almost seems mean, considering he cant go out.

But if I can come up with something really fun to do, he might not miss trick or treating so much.

Poor Zachary! When you're little, there is nothing worse than missing trick or treat. You'll have to plan something really great for when he feels better - hopefully something where he can still wear his costume.
I'm sure some of the mom's out there have some great ideas for you.

frazzledspice is on a distinguished road

I'm sorry he's sick. (If he can find a Catholic church or school tomorrow, they may be having an "All Saint's Day" party. Kids get dressed up as their favorite saints.)

Landscapers and Pumpkin Farms may have their displays and attractions open through the weekend, too.

Poor Zachary

Did he feel up to handing out the candies last night? Are there enough friends and/or family in the area that would be able to have a mini-halloween just for him? Or maybe you could take him to a dollar store, or something similar, he could wear his costume and be allowed to chose X$ worth of candy.

I hope he feels better soon.

He put on his costume a little bit last night and we made paper bag jack-o-lanterns and tissue paper ghosts with lollopop heads. Then he fell asleep (before I took the little guys trick or treating) and didnt get up until this morning.

We only trick or treat where we know the people, and everyone gave some extra candy for Zachary. This morning he had fun going through all of the candy (I just combined everything) but his fever came back and he is now lying down again. We have a doctor appointment at 1:15 but I have a feeling they wont really say much other than to let him ride it out.

He did make out pretty good for not going out. My parents came over with a "goody bag" filled with a few candies and a 10 dollar bill. My brother also gave him a goody bag with things. And we have two pumpkin buckets filled to the top with candy even though we only went to a dozen houses or so.

I really think I missed him being there more than he missed going.
