| | Don't waste your money. Start saving plastic grocery bags instead. Wrap the diaper and put it in your outside trash right away.

| | I loved it--especially on days when it was too cold to go outside right away or in the middle of the night. It took a little while to figure out how to use, but after that it was simply wonderful.

| | I don't know if they still make it, but Playtex makes/made a diaper can that's much better. It takes regular garbage bags, so no expensive refills, and no having to learn how to cut off the old bags to start a new section, etc. I've got a review of it buried somewhere way back in the annals of my Eps history.

| | I got two of these things for baby showers. I used them until recently. I voted that they weren't worth it because I hated the way they smelled, I hated emptying them, the refills were $5 a pop and so on. Although I used cloth diapers for quite awhile, so I stopped using the diaper genies. My husband thought they were the best thing since sliced bread. I'd love to get a metal pail next time. I hate the way that the plastic absorbs odors and just can't be aired out. Now I have no idea what to do with these two diaper genies. I hate to put them in a landfill, but they stink too much to give away.

| | I don't have one, but it seems to be a good idea. A lot of people can't put their garbage outside except on garbage pick-up nights, and the idea of having a bunch of bags with dirty diapers in them hanging around in your basement or garage for a week seems icky. I'd imagine that would stink more than anything. |

| | Used it. Loved it. You can usually find them at garage sales for a fraction of the retail price.
Just remember to check any at garage sales to make sure they have been, uh, emptied.

We didn't even get through the refills we were generously given as a baby shower gift. We ended up giving the thing away to another friend who really wanted one and couldn't be dissuaded.
Fill it with ice and use it to chill a bottle of wine. You'll be much happier to open it when the time comes.

| | I'm with amy-outside in a plastic grocery bag-I have a trash can just for diapers right outside the door-here are my tips-Clean with Vinager-or bleach water-put newspaper in the bottom of the trash can under the bag to absorb the sent-or brown paper bags from the grocery-(if you have cats use brown paper bags to line the litter box-they absorb scent)

| | I had one ~ and used it only once with my twins! The concept of it didn't appeal to me ~ and since I was going through approx. 12 diapers each a day in the beginning, it semed much easier to just toss the diapers in a bag and set the garbage out! Oh ya ~ I flushed the contents of the diaper first before throwing the diaper away! |

| | I loved our diaper genie -- I was an old pro at:
1) finding the edge to start a refill
2) using scissors to cut the plastic instead of the useless cutter
3) putting a yankee candle warmer tart at the bottom
But you can't overfill it -- it will break the seal. You have to be realistic -- if you wait too long to change it, it will be disgusting. I would change it every other day.
However, saving plastic garbage bags is another great alternative, one I did with my second child. I used one of those plastic bag holders that grandmom's sew up for craft fairs and hung it on the door knob with the diaper stacker. After every shopping trip, I would bring the bags to the babies room and refill the bag holder. Then, when you plop the diaper into the bag, twist it, fold the now enclosed diaper into the remaining loose edges of the plastic bag, twist again, knot and toss into a regular lined garbage can (with a yankee candle warmer tart underneath the liner at the bottom of the can). Bring plastic bags along with you in diaper bags, too.
Of course, if you breast feed, you don't have to worry about stink until after solids are introduced.

| | We use the diaper genie here (hopefully not for much longer as we are Potty training) and have been pretty satisfied.
I've heard some good things about the Diaper Dekor though, not as many good things about Diaper Champ (which takes regular bags).
Good luck!
There is no stink free solution, we're talking about poop here.

| | I do appreciate everyone's feedback.
We are just days away from this little blessing, only 7 more days give or take.
I think we will give it a shot, worse case, it doesn't cut it, best case, it sure helps!
Thanks again everyone!
