Dangerous Cubs

More than half of my den showed up for the pack hike yesterday. We were the largest den there -- 5 of my boys showed up, but one didn't get there until after this picture was taken.

5 miles later, they were looking considerably better than the adults.

They made the rather serious, IMHO, error of allowing MY 8 year old to set the pace on the way out. After a 20 minute break at the half-way point, a couple of the adults decided that the boys needed to let THEM set the pace on the way back.

There was that little matter of the quarter-mile or so hill at the beginning and end of the hike which was allegedly a mountain bike trail, but which was mostly mud and fallen trees. Didn't slow the kids down a bit, but some of us grown-ups were pretty muddy by the time we got back. At least now I know what to expect when the pack goes on hikes -- and I understand why so many of the "experienced" families were too busy to come.
