| | Today is #4's birthday party. We always invite Helen_B and family, and make a huge dinner, several desserts, etc.
Last night, when Helen was visiting, I asked #4 what he wanted for his birthday dinner.
"Oh!" he said, smiling happily,"I want my very most favourite dinner in the whole entire world, the most deliciuos food I ever ate!"
I just beamed. It is so flattering when your kids are this age, and they appreciate everything you do for them. Did I mention how much I adore #4?
I thought through our recent menues, wondering if it was the fried chicken and mashed potatoes, the grilled steak with mushrooms, maybe even my risotto which so pleased this child of mine.
"Which meal was that, sweetie-pie?" I asked him.
"Why, the best most wonderful dinner I ever ate in my whole life!" he squeaked with enthusiasm. I smiled even harder.
"I want that delicious roast beef with the best gravy in the world that Helen makes when we come over for dinner,"he raved. "I want Helen to make my birthday dinner.
Excuse me. I need to change my will.

| | The secret: beef raised on a small farm, fed corn and some grass, and given antibiotics only on arrival at the farm to prevent illnesses brought on by the stress of being moved.
the other secret:brown it and potroast it for three hours

Reminds me of my poor Southern mother. She would make fried chicken, as her mother and grandmother did....and I would tell her, every time, that it was good but I liked Kentucky Fried Chicken better.

| | LOL. You mean everyone doesn't have something like that?
My grandmother used to make homemade vegetable beef soup. My mother and I both preferred Campbells. | | |
