| | After going to the preschool to plant in the butterfly garden (and how's this for hippie? All the OTHER moms had nice little store-bought pots... I and my personal band of demons showed up with two huge pots of daisies I was dividing from my garden ), we returned home for lunch. I instructed the dirty children to wash their hands WITH SOAP to get the dirt off.
Buster: "I already washed them!"
pippa: "But you haven't been to the bathroom!"
Buster: "I didn't need to! I licked all the dirt off!" |

| | Oh, my. He needs to learn the difference between low-giene and hi-giene. That is some serious low-giene. I'm still teaching my 12 yo the difference.

| | I tried not to leave my daughter alone when she was under the age of 5 because she ate dirt all the time. Someone told me she was missing some nutrients (God knows what those "nutrients were). She ate dirt and I was the one that felt like throwing up. |

| | Go watch the George Carlin routine about boosting the immune system. It'll make you feel much better about how your son will be healthier in the long run than the prissy clean kids.

| | I have a friend who is a family physician.
Her father is a radiologist.
One day, my friend and her young son were eating ice cream cones with her dad. The boy's ice cream scoop fell to the ground.
My friend swiftly picked it up, brushed it off, and put it back on his cone.
To which, her father proudly proclaimed, "Good for you, Jen! Dirt is good!"

| | Uh, didn't you have that dirt-eating thing going on when you were pg, Pippa? Maybe he's just following your example.
Yeah, I'm still laughing. Welcome to the world of raising a Boy.

| | I love hearing stories like this one! (And the ice cream example.) Makes me realize that my kids aren't all that gross.

| | LOL! Sand is close enough to dirt.
With #1, I kept clean napkins in my diaper bag to wipe dirt off his hands and out of his mouth when he'd eat it. With #4, it's way more relaxed. #4 says,"How much sand is too much?" and I tell him if he still has teeth, he's good. |

| | Cindy, we took Nicholas to the beach when he was 9 months old. He pooped out sand for a week after that! It's third child syndrome for sure!

Right now I'm experimenting with Febreeze on stinky toddler boy sneakers. I may have to burn them otherwise. |

| | Did he get his feet very wet? I can deal with the whole stinky foot thing by using odor eater powder int heir shoes. However, any shoe that meets a large body of stinky water (the neighbor's pond in the backyard, the lake, the giant mud puddle that forms on the sidewalk outside our house) never smells right again.
