*I* have the keys to the Purell. |

| | Re Use caution w/ hand sanitizer | | My coworker used to use Purell constantly. He also had to use up his sick days every year. Me? Soap and five years' worth of sick days until they started paying me to buy them back.

| | Re Use caution w/ hand sanitizer | | Our Purell use is mainly in the car. You will hardly EVER see me without a bottle there. I use it after touching shopping carts (I'll give a link to THAT story if you need it), after playgrounds, children's museums, and porta-potties. At home? Soap. |

| | Re Use caution w/ hand sanitizer | | We have dispensers in all our classrooms. It helps to keep the building healthy. The kids do use it, the big ones overuse it. I keep a pump bottle on my desk. I am allergic to chalk dust, and my nail beds pay the price. So I since I started using the purell at my desk after writing on the board, then I use a nail and hand cream I haven't had as much trouble with my nails.

| | Re Use caution w/ hand sanitizer | | I have an itty bitty tiny bottle in my purse that I use infrequently. Usually right after I move the trash can in/out of the garage, or if I find something really nasty under the seat.
Like today when I discovered that someone had spilled both a soda and popcorn and that funny smell was it molding together.

| | Re Use caution w/ hand sanitizer | | I am strictly a non-bacterial soap and water girl. I carry nonalcholic wipes for cleaning my hands.
I won't even provide antibacterial soap or sanitizer when asked by the teachers. I give them regular liquid soap and wipes.
We have created supergerms by killing the necessary ones along with the evil ones.
As my physician friend says, "Dirt is good." She also says so is regular handwashing.

| | Re Use caution w/ hand sanitizer | | Nonbacterial soap is tricky to find, but I bought one of those foam pump bottles and a quart of castille soap. Now I mix my own. It smells much nicer and doesn't do bad things to my skin.
I do use alcohol gel at work when I don't have time to get to a sink. I wash as often as possible, though. I hate the sticky mess the gel leaves on my hands.

| | Re Use caution w/ hand sanitizer | | I use it in school all the time. There is no close bathroom or sink near our rooms and the germs fly all the time. Something is better than nothing. |

| | Re Use caution w/ hand sanitizer | | What Elyzabeth said. I think that the urge to kill every darn bacterium has made us unable to fight the more benign ones. | | |
