Almost 5 going on 10...

My babester will be 5 in April...amazing how quickly time flies.

This week, I have been told that I am the worst mommy in the world, been called a poop head and hit by my daughter (lightly in the stomach) and hubby was called a jerk today and also hit at, spit at, etc.

Mine was Thursday night: his today.

The daughter for some reason, is flying off the handle unexpectedly and being totally obnoxious. I am thinking it's because she's lacking sleep from the day before (going to bed too late).

But, OMGoodness, I am amazed at the hurtful, mean things they pick up so quickly. Oh, we were also told today "i hate you". Totally crazy behavior.

It's hard when they grow up and start to assert their independence. My oldest is 8 going on 14. Every time I ask her something, she rolls her eyes and says "Whatever..."

It's amazing how quickly they figure out exactly what to say that is going to hurt you.

I am constantly amazed at the way they manipulate everything and everyone at such an early age.

They learn so quickly!

These are good teachable ages where kids need to learn limits, what is and isn't acceptable to say and do, and empathy.

While you let her know this is not acceptable behavior, you get to try to figure out what's going on besides the end of 4 1/2. Good luck!

Very possible! But, I truly wished that it was closer to 10!

Actually, Delia's not far off. Just add ten years and you've got your 14 year old. Four and a half is the "first adolescence". Recommended book: Your Four Year Old; Wild and Wonderful.
