I remember when I was little, reading the Laura Ingalls Wilder books and making "maple syrup candy". Except that I just used the syrup from the bottle, and instead of heating and pouring into the snow, I poured it into Dixie cups and waited for it to harden. Of course, it didn't, so I drank it.

Now that just makes me gag.
