I'm gonna guess Margo, then. And your present, Margo, a nice intro into science fiction, starting with my favorite sub-genre, social-science fiction:
Mindscan, by Robert J. Sawyer
An entertaining and thought provoking look at what identity means.
Spin, by Robert Charles Wilson
Wilson's forte is introducing a change into modern society, and hypothesizing the reaction of society to the change, and Spin is his masterpiece in exploring that theme.
Old Man's War, by John Scalzi
The first book in the Old Man's War Triology (and all three of them are good), Old Man's War is an introduction into a universe hotly competed over by a number of races, of which humanity is only one, and is an examination of war and what is worth fighting for.
Enjoy! | I'll have you know I almost bought an Orson Scott Card book the other day.
Thanks!

Thanks! | He's a good, readable writer. He's done huge amounts of stuff, all over the map, including a lot of religious historical fiction. And I've really enjoyed reading his LDS stuff, as well.

| | Re 2007 Santaworm Game - Guessing Thread | | I haven't seen my gift recipient making any guesses--maybe in the first week, but not for quite a while, and I've been checking.
Come out, come out, wherever you are, you two.... |

| | Re 2007 Santaworm Game - Guessing Thread | | Well, since Frazzledspice hasn't seen her elf making any guesses for some time, she can't be my secret santa. Therefore, it must be mtbat - Fridai, if that's right, I'll post presents tomorrow. I have papers to grade tonight.

| | Re 2007 Santaworm Game - Guessing Thread | | For Fridai,
Thanks for my secret Santa gifts. I almost guessed you several tries ago. I can't remember now why I didn't.
In any case, here goes:
1. Your choice of chefs (or let them take turns)
Yan can cook with vegetables:
Wolfgang Puck knows veggies, too
Emeril makes burritos for breakfast:
2. A house -- with another attached for your mom Slide Show Here
And, of course, the job of your dreams within reasonable commuting distance.

| | Re 2007 Santaworm Game - Guessing Thread | | Ack! Frazz, I'm so sorry! To make it up to you, I'm giving your son approval to take vacation anytime he wants so he can come home earlier than July (plus round-trip airfare so he doesn't have to pay an arm and a leg for the trip). |

| | Re 2007 Santaworm Game - Guessing Thread | | I'm not your Santa, but thanks so much for sending my son home for a visit...
And please accept a belated Christmas present for your new baby:
I guess that my giftee will never come around and guess me......I'm going to have to write a letter of complaint to "Dear Abby...." like those sweet little old un-thanked Grandmas....
