Improved Covers of Songs

We've all heard songs being covered by artists who did not originate them and winced. A much rarer occurence is the cover version, which is better than the original performance. What are some of the covers you like better than the originals?

Here are some of mine:

Wild is the Wind, originally done by Nina Simone, which was very good, but I like the David Bowie version better.

How about The Beatles' With a Little Help From My Friends, which is almost as good as the Joe Cocker cover.

Jimi Hendrix did All Along the Watch Tower better than Bob Dylan, who wrote it.

I could list some more, but I would love to see what other people come up with.

I think Dave Matthews does All along the watchtower better than Hendrix or Dylan. They also do a few other great covers.

I am partial to Going to California by Never the Bride (on Encomium)

I also think that just about every song on Medusa by Annie Lennox is better than the original, especially Don't let them bring you down (Neil Young).
