| | Okay folks, new Mystery Movie. Last one was Dead Again.
This movie has not been selected before because, well, that's no fun.
It's a movie I'm very familiar with (I've watched it a number of times) although odds are you've never seen it. It's a neat little picture, though, one you should check out sometime.

Would it be considered an example of film noir? Hmmm. There's a trend to expand and stretch what is considered film noir so I guess, yes, it could be considered as such. But above "thriller" is probably more accurate.
Is the setting important to the story? Some may disagree, but I feel that it is
Does the story involve a crime? Yes
Does it include a romance? Weak, but if you look hard you might find one
Has it ever been re-made? No

| | Wow! Terrific job, Satan! You nailed it.
Okay, Satan is either psychic or he's been reading through my Epinions backlist very closely. Or he made the connection between film noir and the director Jacques Tourneur. Or, perhaps, he knows his stuff.
In any event, my hat's off to you. You're up. You get to pick the next one.
And, for those few who might actually be interested, The Leopard Man is a terrific little movie. Produced by Val Lewton and directed by Jacques Tourneur ("Cat People", "Curse of the Demon", "Out of the Past") the movie contains at least one classic scene. It's all mood and misdirection and nothing-to-write-home-about acting, but it achieves something today's special effects-laden pics really lack: it plays on your imagination.
I like it a lot. Hell, I own it (this one never seems to play on TV; Ted Turner must own it--he owns the universe--but I don't think I've ever come across it on TCM).
If you stumble across it, check it out.
