New Yorkers: Free Shakespeare in the Park!

(Couldn't decide which forum this belonged in.)

I just received the following email. Last year, we saw their performance of Macbeth, which was wonderful. Be prepared, though, for a somewhat non-traditional theatre experience: the play moves through the park and the audience just follows along. (Expect also a few stares from innocent passers-by who wonder if they ought to call the police about the rather energetic sword fighting. )

The performance is free, though they, of course, solicit donations at the end. Which you will, I promise, be moved to make as they really are quite good.

And this year, it's my favorite. Twelfth Night. (I saw a performance as a kid and was utterly mesmerized. To this day, I compare every Viola to that actress, whose performance may just possibly have been embellished just a bit in my memory.)

Sounds like great fun. I'll have to try to get in to see it one night soon. I can enjoy the show and count it as training for my walk.

Thanks for the tip!

Sara
