Wow.
"But I'm the only one who would walk across the fire for you...."
I'd kill to be able to belt that and sound like she does. And yeah, I'd like to be a tough rock 'n roll chick who can also stand on the stage alone with a guitar.
Who would you be?
(C'mon, pick just one. You can do it.)

Or maybe Mariah Carey without the drugs.
Just having that kind of range and that ability to improvise effortlessly while staying in key is incredible to me.

Can't carry a tune a bucket. Count me out. The worst part is, even though I sing as if I'm tone deaf, I'm not tone deaf. I can hear how bad I am!

Maybe George.
Hell, I would settle for Ringo.
Um, let's see though. I've always liked Joe Jackson's versatility. But Elvis was pretty versatile too.
Okay, Elvis.

| | Umm, I hate to tell ya this, but talent is NOT a requirement for Karaoke. A few beers seems to be a requirement, however, for most people. |

| | Boy, what a tough question.
For raw musical talent, I can't think of a popular artist that leaves me more in awe than Miles Davis. I don't think any musician has ever had a more intimate relationship with his instrument.
But songwriting is something else. I once asked a friend who is more knowledgeable about music than I how Irving Berlin could hear the connection between the oriental and jazz themes in "Rhaspody in Blue". She answered that they were written on the same scale or something like that. But that was the math. I wanted to know how he saw that connection.
To see through the eyes of a great songwriter-or any great artist-what wouldn't you give for that?
Brian

My generation--a few years older.
I can play all her piano music....I can probably sing better (don't have that raspy edge.) I've written some songs. What have I done with my life? |

| | Julie Andrews - before the throat surgery, of course. (Did anyone else hear her sing that tiny little bit on the PBS special a few months ago? It caught me by surprise, and I almost cried, I was so happy for her!)
Maybe Sarah Brightman, but without the weird facial gestures.
