Let's just stick with groups (no dissing me on the exclusion of Elvis, he's not a group).
And while you're at it....feel free to define "Classic" as a genre. Myself, it's the stuff I grew up with, or the stuff that defined the R&R generation. I didn't include punk, grunge, or heavy metal... IMO, they belong in a different category, but feel free to discuss.

Towards the end, Elvis would have had to buy more than one seat on an airplane... wouldn't that qualify him as a group?

I love The Eagles. I'm wearing my $30 Eagles 2003 Farewell 1 shirt. The Eagles rule! .... but, I don't really think of them as "Classic Rock". They are sort of a category unto themselves - rock, country rock, ballads, etc. To me, Classic Rock is The Who, The Stones, Aerosmith, The Doors, Led Zepplin, etc. If you asked for favorites in general, I probably would have picked The Eagles, but not when the question is for "Classic Rock" |

I have to say Floyd. They have stood the test of time, musically and their music stands apart from the rest.
Heck, how long did Dark Side of the Moon stay on the charts? Just under 25 years, wasn't it? I don't think I have seen, or known, another band to do this, from this list.
It sold over 10 million copies in the US alone. This was their 9th album. What an amazing, different sound!

I have to admit of the posted bands the only one I like is The Beatles. But I love other music of the era. Just not these bands.

Hands down, Zeppelin. But then again, I have to mention I've never been a huge fan of the Beatles (though I did like Sgt. Peppers).
