| | Did anyone watch ER last night? (11/20) | |
I watched the first couple episodes this season and lost interest, but had it turned on last night while I was working on some jewelry.
I'm still thinking about the opening scenes. Wow.

| | Re: Did anyone watch ER last night? (11/20) | | I'll spoil it. Rocket died. I predicted it to Michelle as the show started -- it was poetic justice for him, plus his character was pretty much useless in the storyline all season.
It was pretty good, because he basically fired Pratt right before he was killed, and nobody else was aware that he did it, so Pratt got to keep his job. |

I missed that the EMT guy was actually married to Susan. Did they do it on a joke or something?

Rocket is Dr. Romano. Anyway, the helicopter falling and squashing him was poetic justice and rather comedic, if you ask me. |

| | Re: Did anyone watch ER last night? (11/20) | | Yes. That's why it is poetic justice... anyhow, the whole reason that he was killed by the falling helicopter was that he was in a full-blown panic attack after being on the helipad a few minutes earlier. He ran into the street to get some air, and then the helicopter crashed on him like a safe being dropped on Wile E. Coyote.
The guy was an @$$hole right until he was killed. |

| | Re: Did anyone watch ER last night? (11/20) | | The helicopter scene was pretty incredible. And the angle of the camera with the helicopter coming down and Romano yelling "NO!!!!" sticks in my mind.
I keep thinking of him (the actor) as the guy on "Fame". Didn't come to a good end there either.

As for the loser reefer-boy, I figure they're going to make viewers suffer him until May sweeps. |

| | Re: Did anyone watch ER last night? (11/20) | | Jeff,
I'm a nurse. It's one reason I wanted him to be under the helicopter. We've only had a couple like that in the NICU and managed to mostly get them booted from the program.
I remember one resident who was completely useless. I used to walk in the door and see that he was on call and I was assigned to transports. I would immediately go to the charge nurse and inform her that if we got called for a transport, I would decline to get in the ambulance with him, because I wasn't willing to put a patient in jeopardy by allowing it to happen.
I was on transports EVERY time he was on call and I was working because the charge nurse knew I meant it. She new I'd make a huge stink and one of the attendings would have to ride along. She also knew I was damn lucky and the phone never rang for a transport when I was working and he was on call -- other, less stiff-necked, nurses rode with him. Sometimes it wasn't pretty.

| | Re: Did anyone watch ER last night? (11/20) | | My wife is a nurse, too, and her clinic has had to fire three nurses over the last two years due to the same sort of incompetence.
Like I said, there's a lot of them out there (thankfully, they're not remotely close to the majority). I think that this loser is necessary in the script to keep the realism there -- or at least as "realistic" as ER is. |

Delia, Romano was the skinny gay guy in Fame who commits suicide at the end. (Can't remember his name. imdb.com to the rescue, it was Montgomery MacNeil and the actor's name is Paul McCrane.)
