I thought there was a chance that Average Joe would have been chosen.

| | Okay... of the people who watched the show, who here thought it was obvious that the Average Joe wouldn't get picked -- I mean from the moment that the non-Average Joes were introduced?
Michelle said, "No way. They wouldn't do all this, create a show, call it Average Joe and not have the Average Joe win. That ruins the whole concept.[/i]
I told her she was flat-out wrong, that there was no way in the world that this particular woman would pick substance over appearance.
Then they showed the previews for Average Joe 2, starring a former Miss America. Can't wait to see her foul mouth at work (she was cussing up a storm in the preview).
Who else will admit that they watched it? |

| | I intended to watch the one last night although I hadn't seen the others.
So she really picked the hunk who still lives at home over the millionaire "Average Joe"? How'd she react when she found out?

| | She was, I think, genuinely shocked that Adam was a self-made millionaire. She kept saying the entire show, "Adam's friends all love him. Adam has made it on his own. Adam is a romantic. Adam would make an awesome father." etc. etc. etc.
The only thing that she could say about the other guy (frankly, I don't remember his name, but it is posted on just about any website covering this) is how pretty he was, how big the physical attraction is to him, etc.
Michelle ended the evening by saying, "See! This show proves that the beautiful only choose the beautiful."
I'd've agreed with her, except I'm still stumped as to why she chose me. |

| | I didn't watch the show at all (seeing the previews every other commercial, I really didn't need to ) but I didn't think the "average" guy was all that bad looking. I mean, he's not a supermodel, but he certainly didn't appear to be a total dog.
But it's not like she has to marry the guy she chose or anything, is it? She can always hook up with the "average" guy after the show is over.

| | As a guy, I really didn't think that Adam was a bad-looking guy, either. My biggest beef was that the guy was always carrying around two day's worth of stubble and dressed way too casually, compared to the other guy, who was always clean-shaven and always dressed very nice.
Michelle said the same thing -- that he wasn't a bad-looking guy and she also liked how he was always smiling and joking around. The thing that she found most annoying was that he used the word like about five times a sentence.
Saying that, her final two choices from the "Average Joe" crowd were both the best looking guys out of the bunch. The three "hunks" that she had to choose from certainly weren't going to present a problem for her, and it was likely in the rules that, in the end, she had to choose one "Average Joe" and one "hunk" (yes, there are rules that these people have to follow, believe it or not, which makes a lot of these shows rather silly to begin with, but they're entertaining nonetheless). |

| | I didn't see the last show, but I did see who she picked on Yahoo news (waaah! so much for the surprise). It doesn't surprise me that she picked the better looking guy. All they did was make out. Here was the defining issue for me:
The guy she picked (Jason) was kind of dumb. He said last week: "I think we could have something special.". Melana asked: "how so?". He responded: "You know, a special relationship." Compare this with Adam: "When I am with you, I feel more alive", etc. That is, actually expressing feelings.
So, what does Melana say (last week or two weeks ago)? "I feel most like myself when I am with Jason". What does that say about her? I think a lot.
That, plus all she ever did with Jason was make out - there was obviously a chemistry there. |

| | Michael,
That's exactly why I said with this particular woman, there was no doubt in my mind who she would pick.
The problem with "chemistry" is that flames wane and grow over time. You simply have to have more than chemistry to make a long-term relationship work.
I'd say that these shows are stupid because you're finding your "soul mate" after only a few weeks, except that I was ready to marry Michelle after our second date... so who am I to talk?
Jeff

| | I can't vote. I've never seen the show so I don't know if it's tripe.
Just wanted to express disappointment that there will be a second series. With the cancellations of good shows like "Boomtown" and "Shannon's Deal", I know even sight-unseen that there are programs more deserving of being broadcast. |
