| | Went and saw the Tim Burton flick tonight with my son. I was expecting something a bit more "magical" but it was wonderful none-the-less.
It was NOT filled with special effects....there were some, but the film was The Story, not The Effects. I found that very refreshing.
Of the Stories, I think I liked the one about how he wooed Sandra the best. All those daffodills!
Anyone else see it yet? If not, I would highly recommend it. |

| | Haven’t seen the movie yet, but I’m about three-quarters of the way through the book. I only make it out to the big screen a few times a year, but Big Fish will be added to my Netflix queue. |

| | I like it. Lots of vignettes that are indirectly related to each other. In some cases, the same scene told several different ways; which is the “true” version? |

| | I just took a glance via Amazon....it looks like it expands on the stories that were included in the movie (surprise surprise). Definite going on my read-list based on that and your comments. Thanks for the recommendation!!! |

| | Saw it several weeks ago. It was particularly enjoyable since I live with a storyteller like that.
Have I ever told you about...

| | I liked the movie, despite the fact that I really don't like Walter Finney as an actor--all that heavy breathing . Though I thought the very last scene was gratuitous. Suddenly, the son is a convert passing down stories to his offspring--I already knew that from the climax of the movie and did not need the denoument to reinforce the point.

| | I liked it too. Some folks will think it's too over the top, but I enjoyed it a lot more than some other Tim Burton flicks. |

| | I finally got around to seeing this last night. It was great! I loved seeing places I know, and I thoroughly enjoyed the story, too. (BF was shot around here, although I never saw any of the filming take place.)
Gotta agree that the final scene was gratuitous. Loved the son creating a final story for his dad, but we didn't need the final pool scene to "get it".

| | I have to say that I did read the book, and (for probably the first time), I liked the film BETTER than the book.
Definitely on our list of DVDs to buy.

| | We rented this last night. It was a good movie - not a great one - but at the end it did tug at an emotional heartstring or two.
I thought that the movie started off very slow. |

| | I thought it started off just right. It gave you just enough flavor of what the son had to grow up with (Dad constantly stealing the limelight with his stories) and it got the "big fish" story told all in the same time frame.
I just wish that in the running away from the hospital scene, after they crossed the bridge, that they'd gone about another half a block further down the road - then y'all could see the church building my husband went to his whole life until he moved here to Montgomery!
