Angel Cancelled

Sigh. Angel has been cancelled by TheWB. The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco was as fine a piece of television as I've seen in years. But I guess three or four million viewers doesn't make a show worth keeping into a sixth season. Smallville gets between half again and twice as many viewers, and it's earlier in its lifecycle. It's becoming more and more clear that the only way left to get good stories is to read books. Sigh.

Re: Angel Cancelled

The audiences for Buffy and Angel have always been small, but demographically desirable. As the fan base aged along with the shows (8 years being an eternity in marketing terms), the demographics started to skew older so they had more problems with the advertising dollars.

There's always the DVD collections.

Re: Angel Cancelled

I thought there was going to be a new spinoff for Buffy, has anyone heard anything on this? Possibly something with Willow is what I heard??

It seems it would be a good business move considering the popularity of the franchise.

Re: Angel Cancelled

I guess it's customary at this point to notice all the dreck that isn't getting cancelled, but I don't even have the energy.

I only watch a couple of tv shows, and I tape them. For a TV show there can be no greater curse than to have me get interested in it and start taping it. Farscape, The Family Guy, Buffy, Angel...

Darn.
