| | TV giveth, TV taketh away | | It looks like Tru Calling, which I watch because Eliza Dushku is a Buffy alum and because it's genre and because it seemed like an OK show, jumped the shark tonight. Seems that her dad hired someone to kill her mother years ago, and the killer came back to blackmail him and attack his new wife, who got killed the first time around and Tru saved her and it's all just too depressing what passes for series writing these days. On the other hand, Wonderfalls makes a nicely zany counterpart to Joan of Arcadia in what seems to a burgeoniing number of mission from God shows. And Kingdom Hospital might be OK. And Century City is pseudo-TiVOed, but I haven't seen it yet. |

| | Re: TV giveth, TV taketh away | | I watch Tru Calling because of Dushku. So does honey. He swears its because of her acting skills, though.... lol Although with Jason Priestly added to the cast I may not watch anymore. He bugs me.
I won't watch the "message from god" shows. puh-leeze. I thought we escaped from that nonsense when Touched by an Angel finally stopped being on every channel, all the time.
We watched Kingdom Hospital twice now and were unimpressed - we didn't like that it is a rip off of another show and that King is claiming the whole idea as his own now, and the show itself just didn't grab our attention for whatever reason.
We are big fans of the HBO shows. I am a total Six Feet Under nut (June can't come soon enough), he is Sorpranos junkie. Now we also watch Deadwood, and were watching Carnivale for a while, although I don't fully "get" that one.
Other than that we don't watch a lot of TV, although I seem to have been pulled into the American Idol vortex, in spite the ever increasing amounts of cheese served up with it. It takes a lot for a show to grab our attention these days and get us to commit for a whole hour - so many shows are trite and underwritten. |

| | Re: TV giveth, TV taketh away | | Plenty of Shark jumping. I dropped Alias from my TiVo list about 4 weeks ago - just stupid now. And I heard they are adding a sister for Sydney now. Yuck.
Century city did look interesting, though I am trying not to get hooked on more shows. |

| | Re: TV giveth, TV taketh away | | I hated Touched by an Angel, way too smarmy for me. But I like Joan of Arcadia - much less smarmy while equally unrealisic in a Law and Order all-crimes-solved-by-9:59 sort of way, and a neat premise - that anyone walking down the street could be God. Wonderfalls is Joan of A x5 on the quirkiness scale.

| | Re: TV giveth, TV taketh away | | I've seen one episode of Tru Calling--the one with the beauty pagent. It was actually pretty good, though I've always thought the Fox snippets were hilarious. What in the world does Eliza Dushku WET have anything to do with anything?
Wonderfalls...seen the first one. It didn't catch my attention. I have liked Kingdom Hospital though...
Funny thing is that these kinds of shows always have gotten to me. The weird supernatural ones. I remember when I was an adolescent REALLY liking Amazing Stories. I mean REALLY. I still remember it was on at 7pm on Sunday nights. NBC, I think, but I could be wrong on that.
