The pre-release stories on the movie all mentioned the not very scientific science in the movie but the part that struck me as totally absurd was deciding which books to burn for heat in the midst of hundreds of wooden chairs that would have given off lots of nice toasty warmth.
Yeah, I knew that the movie would be a groaner, but my son really wanted to see it... |

If they burned the chairs, they wouldn't have been able to climb on them to get out of the windows when the book fire overtook them. Think, man! Think!

| | Re: The Day After Tomorrow (SPOILER) | | I'll see it regardless of the bad reviews....
I know, I know. Ya'll warned me. BUT let me explain myself. I have a major interest in Apocalyptic Fiction. 99% of it is found in writing so any movie that comes out is of interest. Believe it or not, but I've collected around 70 AF books...
So I have an excuse. Really I do.

| | Re: The Day After Tomorrow (SPOILER) | | Shelly, can you list your apocalyptic fiction here? (or in books?). I like that stuff too.
I'm a big fan of Lucifer's Hammer, as far as AF goes. But I also liked The Last Canadian, The Stand, On the Beach, and John Wyndham's stuff. |

I want to know where Emmy Rossum got her eyeliner and mascara after being trapped in a superfreeze and flood in the New York public library. | I've heard nothing but good things about the line of makeup that bears your name. Perhaps she was wearing your stuff and now you have a new angle for marketing:
Floods? No problem?
A new ice age? Nothing to worry about.
Killer winds? We've got you covered.

| | Re: The Day After Tomorrow (SPOILER) | | I went to see the movie, sure! I love these disaster-type flicks. I mean, if you go for 'logic' and 'plot' and 'deep character development'... well, try the next theater down, son.
I think they did a darn good job on special effects. Although my beef was using wolves as the 'enemy'... I mean, come on! (I guess Im prejudiced). Shoulda been escaped polar bears. They woulda loved New York under hundreds of feet of snow.
As for those things I mentioned above, uh- the special effects were pretty darn good... |

| | Re: The Day After Tomorrow (SPOILER) | | I agree, this film was extremely soft on facts. But paper burns very quickly and very hot compared to wood.
