| | AFI's top 100 songs from movies | | Well, I wasn't sure whether to put this here or in For A Song! LOL http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Movi....ap/index.html
Good? Bad? Big time missed songs?
DH and I both had "Over the Rainbow" pegged long before the show last night was over. And he was happy that "Rainbow Connection" made it. Wasn't too happy about Whitney Houston's version of "I Will Always Love You" from Bodyguard. I think I agree with him. I never have really cared for her version of it, although it's probably more because I grew up listening to that version, as opposed to which version is arguably better.

14. "My Heart Will Go On," "Titanic," 1997.
| Ugh.
I like the fact that the list encompases more than the last 5 years. Sometimes we get way too tied up in current pop culture and forget the great (Fill in the blank) of earlier generations.
I've always liked Whitney's version of "I will always love you" better than Dolly's. Dolly's is too nasally for me. But as a person, I like Dolly better than Whitney.

| | Re: AFI's top 100 songs from movies | | As the theme of Titanic, "My Heart Goes On" works. As a song, not so much.
Can't think of any glaring omissions, but I really liked "Be Our Guest" from Disney's Beauty and the Beast. |

| | Re: AFI's top 100 songs from movies | | There should have been more songs from Chicago (the movie, not the group).
And from Magnolia; the Aimee Mann album.
And the Indiana Jones theme.

I think, though, that they didn't include songs without lyrics. Maybe that was the rule. (They included the M*A*S*H* theme, which has lyrics in the movie.)

| | Re: AFI's top 100 songs from movies | | I take that back. 'The Man That Got Away', which I once sang in a dingy Hollywood bar is on the list. But none of my great film numbers is there.
