| | Who should play the next Superman? | | Ashton Kutcher? Brendan Fraser? Chris Walken?
Too bad Cary Grant is dead. He really would have been a good choice.
What do you think? Who should play the next Man of Steel????

| | Re: Who should play the next Superman? | | Of the choices they give, I like Jude Law the best -- he's got the looks and the acting chops to pull it off. Tobey Maguire's too skinny and young, probably (and he's probably too busy playing that other superhero), but give him a few years and he'd make a great Clark Kent. |

| | Re: Who should play the next Superman? | | I think the blurb on Walken is hillarious! I agree totally with it. Maybe super-villain but definitely not superhero.
I'm not really sure. I think Fraser would be OK but doesn't really look like Superman. A lot of the others seem rather odd (when I heard Nic Cage would be playing him--before that fell through-- I was kinda baffled at it). I kinda go back and forth about Jude Law. I am a fan of his but am not sure if he looks right for the part.
I would say that they should go with a relative unknown personally...

Too bad Cary Grant is dead. | So I would go with the Cary Grant-ish Jeremy Northam. If not him, perhaps the kid from And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0047248
Without that beard, he looks like Christopher Reeve. |

I vote for Nathan Lane.

pleasegodpleasegodpleasegodpleasegod not Matt Damon or Ben Affleck.
Patrick Warburton. That would be hilarious.

I was told Meet the Parents was one of the funniest movies around. I hated it.
Although he's skinny, I think Tobey McGuire could pull it off. Maybe it's the whole superhero by association thing.
What about Gov. Swartenagger? (don't dis me on spelling, you KNOW who I mean) Or has he completely given up on acting?

(And I would look at Patrick Wilson).

| | Re: Who should play the next Superman? | | I think Jake Gyllenhaal would make a dreadful superman - that is, if he has been cast. I'm not sure who would be fitting - all the A-list hollywooders are completely wrong for the role. They have the muscles, but not the persona...
Would anyone be a bit freaked out by the whole 'bad luck' superman thing? :fire: Personally, I don't believe in it, but it might deter the odd soul... |

| | Re: Who should play the next Superman? | | *grin* I couldn't really see Jake Gyllenhal as Superman. Maybe Spidey if Tobey McGuire opts out of it (I have heard something about McGuire not wanting to do another one) but not Superman.
The British thing is possibly what made me a bit iffy about Law but it is probably more of the facial characteristics...
The ability to play a somewhat comic, bumbling suit seems in fairly short supply right now...
Ummmm... Wild suggestion... Billy Cradup? Shrug. I like him anyhow

| | Re: Who should play the next Superman? | | "Macbeth" is never performed because many believe the productions are cursed.
Except for "Poltergeist," in which two of the children died suddenly--one murdered by her ex-boyfriend, the other during emergency surgery--I can't imagine a role whose actors have suffered tragedies more than Superman.
George Reeves committed suicide.
Christopher Reeve became a quadriplegic following a horseback-riding accident.
I don't think I'm overly superstitious, but I wouldn't want anyone I liked to assume the role of Superman. |

Jack Black would make a fine Superman...and no curse.
