Never heard of this group, just heard the song on the radio (listening to pop instead of NPR for the first time in MONTHS). I love this song! cool lyrics for those of us who graduated HS in the 80's.

And here I was just complaining to Hubby that my generation's music has become the music the grocery store plays (this weekend it was It's the End of the World as We Know It when I was in the Frozen Foods section ).

This is the current winner for "Song Most Likely to Get Stuck in My Head" - it brings a giggle every time. Then it brings a frown when the young guy standing next to me in the bar goes "Van Halen had another singer?"

I bought a compilation of 80s hits this weekend--only to discover that none of the songs on the 3-CD set is performed by the original artists. THey're all performed by a group called "The Countdown Singers."

Which explains why it was so cheap.

Ugh.

I graduated in 1984 and I was uncool then and hadn't noticed that I'm so uncool now until MJ mentioned playing those songs in the supermarket. Dammit, I like to sing along! My kids hate it when I say "oh, that song is so old, it's a remake!" Gets them everytime!
