| | Oh, no - who's Rowling going to kill off this time? | | Well, we can but hope it's one of the bad guys - like Mr. Malfoy, maybe. http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/book....ap/index.html
FWIW, I thought all the build up to the last major character death was rather overdone, at least compared to how she ended up pulling it off in the book.

| | Re: (3) Oh, no - who's Rowling going to kill off this time? | | Yeah, it probably won't be Snape because we still need to learn more about him. And we don't really like him (though we're starting to sympathize with him). I think she'll kill off someone that we like because that creates more dramatic tension. We care more.
Unfortunately, I agree that she botched the death in the last book (guess I should avoid spoilers, eh?). The suspense was built in the media, not in the pages of the book. I realize she can't control media coverage, but she can control how she writes her book and the suspense was lacking.

| | Re: (4) Oh, no - who's Rowling going to kill off this time? | | There need to be a lot more deaths in Book Six. I mean, a ton. If You-Know-Who is finally back, he ought to go on a kill-crazy rampage, just for kicks, starting with the most annoying characters (Percy Weasley, this means you) and working his way down.

NOOOOOOOO! I like Neville, especially after the last book!
I wouldn't mind offing Luna, though.

| | Re: (9) Oh, no - who's Rowling going to kill off this time? | | Vote for Neville here also. I was irked at the plot hints in the last book that he may be the "real" conqueror, not Harry. What a dishrag character so far.
Luna gets to be his "second".... |

| | Re: (10) Oh, no - who's Rowling going to kill off this time? | | While hints were thrown about, they were also pretty definitively squashed, IMO. The choice was made, one person was marked, and Harry is IT. While I think Neville will have something, maybe even a good deal, to do with the final showdown, in the end it will be Harry all the way.
And - dishrag? Not anymore! That boy got a SPINE in the last book and he's not backing down now. I was literally cheering for him in the fight chapters in the last book. And I think his parents will come out of their mental incapacity, too.

| | Re: (11) Oh, no - who's Rowling going to kill off this time? | | I'm rooting for Neville too. The article doesn't say that Rowling said a "major" character would die so it could be anyone from the house elves on up.
