| | Movies I've Never Seen But Everyone Else Has | | Here's your chance to confess to all the "must-see" flicks that you've never (and may not ever!) care to see.
Feel free to pick on everyone else's list and say "OH BUT PIPPA, YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE SIXTH SENSE....IT'S ONE OF THE BEST FILMS EVER!!!" or something along those lines.
My initial list:
1. Chocolat
2. Jerry Maguire
3. The Color Purple
4. When Harry Met Sally
5. You've Got Mail

2. Castaway
3. My Big Fat Greek Wedding
4. Lord of the Rings (any of them)
5. The Sixth Sense
I haven't seen You've Got Mail either. The Color Purple was a fantastic rendition of the book, IMHO, and Chocolate was good if you have a Johnny Depp thing. Which reminds me that I think I have another free rental at Blockbuster coming up and I need to rent Pirates of the Caribbean, which I ALSO have not seen. |

1. Titanic | Sucks, don't bother. Not bad, saw it once, would like to see it again without 20 people in the audience. Quote: |
3. My Big Fat Greek Wedding
| Pretty damn funny. Quote: |
4. Lord of the Rings (any of them)
| Awesome.....of course, I read all the books in HS and LOVED them. I could (and do ) watch over and over again. Quite seriously, this is an awesome film that if you have an spiritualistic tendancies toward a life beyond Earth, you should watch. Quote: | pippadaisy said

If anyone has an even inkling of a "Johnny Depp thing" you need to see Pirates.......

| | Re: (3) Movies I've Never Seen But Everyone Else Has | | 1) All three of The Godfathers
2) Casablanca
3) Singing in the Rain
4) A great number of movies that came out after I had children.
Oh, I haven't seen Chocolat, either, Lynn... but I think you're overestimating the number of people who have.
Lynn -- with your list, 2, 4 & 5 are fun movies, but I wouldn't say "must see". The Color Purple is quite good and Oprah Winfrey surprisingly good.
PIppa... Titanic is overrated, Castaway too long (I find the end to be superfluous). My Big Fat Wedding is very, VERY funny.
BUT... the Lord of the Rings... absolutely must see. Beautifully, carefully crafted... superbly acted, honors Tolkien. REMARKABLE.
And the Sixth Sense...even after knowing "the secret" I can watch again and again. Haunting AND sweet... how can it be? But it is.
And you're right...you MUST rent Pirates. I don't even have a Depp thing, but I sure have a thing for his Pirate.

Titanic was over-rated. Castaway is good but has a stupid ending.
I've never seen the classics:
- Citizen Cane (or is that Kane?)
- ane Beatles movie
Hated the first Lord of the Rings - refuse to see the next two. |

1. Gone with the Wind
2. Miracle on 37th Street (Er, I may have the number wrong there)
3. Sophie's Choice
4. Office Space
5. Spider Man
6. X Men (and given what a huge fan I was of the comics when I was growing up, I still don't get why I haven't seen this yet)
7. Terminator (any of them)

- Citizen Cane (or is that Kane?) | It's Kane, and an awfully good movie, as are Casablanca, Singin' in the Rain, Chocolat, My Big Fat Greek Wedding and the LOTR trilogy. Titanic has wonderful production values but is excruciating sappy, so I would give it a miss.
I've never seen ...
- The Sixth Sense
- Jerry Maguire
- The English Patient
- Any of The Godfather trilogy
- Cast Away
- A Night to Remember
- too many foreign films to name
- too many classics to name |

But you should only see it once in your life.
And you should probably keep a box of tissues, a good supply of chocolate, and a number for your local suicide hotline nearby when you watch it.

Sophie's Choice? If you are a mother, DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE. DO NOT.
I can't even think about it without getting literally nauseous. I want to throw up just having to type this reply.
I've never seen the Blues Brothers all the way through, either, or any Monty Python movie. Hubby can quote both at will.
Also haven't seen the English Patient.
And the "she's a he" is The Crying Game. |

| | Re: (12) Movies I've Never Seen But Everyone Else Has | | I didn't see the last two of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy (and I fell asleep during one of the battle scenes in the first...) I like reality-based movies.
Didn't see any of the "Matrix" movies (was there more than one?)
And Lord spare me from seeing any of those stupid teen movies full of sex and potty jokes. I never want to see another male accidentally krazy gluing a certain part of his anatomy to his hand again! Yuck!
Being the mother of a teenager, occasionally these raunchy DVD's have found their way into my house during sleepover parties, etc. Whatever happened to good clean humor? |

I know stuff like that really happened, but I don't want to subject myself to actually witnessing it.

Goodfellas
Predator

The Sixth Sense
Jackie Brown
Most movies that came out in the 1990s (too busy being a dad, but Netflix has helped lately)
Most horror movies (generally can’t stand them anyway)
BTW, the first Matrix flick is excellent, the two sequels were bleh. |

| | Re: (3) Movies I've Never Seen But Everyone Else Has | | Casablanca and Gone With the Wind. Don't think I'll ever watch all of Gone With the Wind, but I might break down and see Casablanca some day.
Sophie's Choice is a very powerful movie. To me, movies like this make me feel more human and alive somehow because they push my emotions to the very edge.
For those of you who missed the Sixth Sense, there's really no point in seeing it now. The time to see it was BEFORE everybody knew there is a twist. Once you know that there IS as twist, it's pretty easy to figure out what the twist is. Consequently, the movie loses a lot of it's kick. When I saw it, I thought it was a great movie even before the twist ending, and not suspecting the twist, was just blown away when it happened.
I also really enjoyed Office Space. Probably because I was a programmer and "got" the environment.

Ooooh, Johnny Depp--fabulous in "Pirates", which I've seen either two or three times now. Be sure to watch all the way to the end of the credits.
But I haven't see "Ed Wood".
