| | OK, here's what we have so far, I think:
This is a color film, not animated, made between 1951 and 1965. It was nominated for at least one Oscar (I don't think anyone asked how many it got), and won an Oscar that was not in the Best Picture or acting categories. It was based on an original screenplay, was made in English, and was directed by someone who is no longer living.
It's a musical, but also falls into another category that is not drama, comedy, sci-fi, romance, horror or documentary. Some of its characters are historical figures.

* Edited to correct an error - nice catch, Finn!

Oscar for the song 'Secret Love'... Make mine sarsparilly! Why, of course it is and now, my secret fondness of Doris Day has been let loose upon the EA community at large.
I knew, based on the last question you asked MNM that you were on to it. You are terrific at this. I gladly pass the torch, err, bullwhip to you ma'am. :p
Shannon ...

| | I was pretty sure it was either 'Calamity Jane' or 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers'. From the genre pic hint. Historical figures was the differentiating point.
MNM I'd like to thank my producer, fellow members of the academy, and especially Shannon for inspiring me to such success....
