| | Am I the Only Sucker for Baz Luhrman? | | Strictly Ballroom is on Plex tonight, and G went to the gym. :reverend:
I've probably seen this movie 100 times, but I watch it again anyway. Same with Moulin Rouge. Demented? *sigh* |

| | Re Am I the Only Sucker for Baz Luhrman? | | 'Strictly Ballroom' is one of my all time favorite films. I'm not quite as keen on 'Moulin Rouge' which I thought was excessive. I found it assaultive in the theater (although, when it worked, it was one of the few films I've seen with the emotional resonance of opera) and much better in the scaled down proportions of home video.

| | Re Am I the Only Sucker for Baz Luhrman? | | I've never seen Strictly Ballroom, but I think I'd like it. I love Ballroom Dance.
I thought I would hate Moulon Rouge, and waited a long time before seeing it on Video. I LOVED it! |

| | Re Am I the Only Sucker for Baz Luhrman? | | MNM, I only saw Moulin Rouge on video... in fact, anything released since the midnight show of Phantom Menace that I've seen has been on video. Someday I'll get to go to the show when the movie doesn't have DISNEY, PIXAR, or DREAMWORKS on the title screen, right?? But I'm assuming that's why I have this love for it. I can see how on the big screen it might have been over the top. The can-can scene... was that horrifying?
Wormie, you haven't SEEN it??? OMG. Stop on the way home and rent it. TODAY! |

| | Re Am I the Only Sucker for Baz Luhrman? | | Strictly Ballroom is a must-see, Wormie. I liked Moulin Rouge too, though I think you have to be in the right mood. His Romeo and Juliet was way too over-the-top for me. |

| | Re Am I the Only Sucker for Baz Luhrman? | | I dunno, I challenge anyone to get to the theater before me and the, err, me and T to see Mad Hot Ballroom.
Yo GeekyGoof... tell me you have a handle on this... if not make sure to run, not walk - trust me - you can thank me later.

| | Re Am I the Only Sucker for Baz Luhrman? | | *sigh* Maybe in a year or so I'll be able to go to a grown-up movie, right? Right?
