I do some of my best singing in the car...

... and apparantly, that's a good thing!!

Quote:
"Singing while driving stimulates not only the mind but also the body which in turn produces heightened alertness and reduced fatigue," said Dr Nicola Dibben, a music psychologist from the University of Sheffield.

She said music was more effective than silence, conversation or talk radio in achieving an optimal state of alertness.

"Singing may be less distracting than conversation because drivers recall words to songs they already know, or because it is fairly easy to learn the words to music where it uses repeated lyrics."
Roll down the windows and SING!

I do some of my worst singing in the car.

Do you still want me to roll down the windows?

Re I do some of my best singing in the car...

This reminds me of a song:

"Sing, sing a song,
Sing out loud,
Sing out strong!
.....
Don't worry that it's not good enough
For anyone else to hear
Just sing
Sing a song!"

La-la-la-la-la! I can't hear you!!!!!

I sing all the time. Drives the kids nuts. But most of my Broadway soundtracks are in the car.

I love pulling up next to someone and watching them belt out a tune behind closed windows. Um, when my window is rolled down in the summer, even if yours is rolled up, I can hear you.

Your old music cannot sustain you through a life, not if you're someone who listens to music every day, at every opportunity. You need input, because pop music is about freshness, about Nelly Furtado and the maddeningly memorable fourth track on a first album by a band you saw on a late-night TV show. And no, that fourth track is not as good as anything on Pet Sounds or Blonde on Blonde or What's Going On, but when was the last time you played Pet Sounds? - Songbook by Nick Hornby

Did you ever sing in your car when you thought nobody was listening? Well, Motormouth might catch you. Motormouth is a new hidden camera show on VH1 and it's like nothing you've ever seen.

Re I do some of my best singing in the car...

Like I care. I not only sing, I perform in the car. I'd laugh my ass off if someone caught me.

Like the other day, when a major stupid guilty pleasure (Barry Manilow, if you can believe that) was playing, and I was singing at the top of my lungs and my pharmacist walked by. He started grinning and I could just see his mind ticking off which drugs I'd recently picked up.

Re I do some of my best singing in the car...

Wrong one, George.

But, you know, I can't smile without you....I can't smile without you... I can't laugh, and I can't sing, I'm findin' it hard to do anything! (hook)

The thing about Barry Manilow songs is that if you can't find anything interesting to do with the chorus, you just change keys (over and over and over again) until it is. In the biz, we refer to a song which does this as "doing a Manilow"

Then I should charge people for my performance.
