| | I saw this game done on a children's book site and realized it could be a fun one for us (slightly) older folks too.
It's called "Who Am I?" I'll start by introducing someone. Whoever guesses his or her name then introduces someone else.
Let's start: I hope you値l enjoy the hospitality of our castle. I知 sure my husband, the thane (and someday king) will greet you with enthusiasm upon his return from the battlefield. I値l be with you as soon as I can wash this damned spot out of my hands. Who am I?

| | A pleasure to meet you Lady Macbeth.
Allow me to introduce myself...
I find myself far away from home and it bothers me so, my kind hates to venture far away from the comforts of home. But, someone has to be the lucky number. Might as well be me.
Hey, wanna see what I've got in my pocket?

| | Hi Bridgette -
I'm doing very well today as well. I recently escorted out a patient, one with a dreadful identity problem. I'm afraid that he is fast becoming rather tiring - perhaps a good book then a good meal will help.

| | Hello Mr. Lecter!
I am NOT French and I値l thank you to serve me chocolate, not coffee, like a civilized person. You simply cannot find anyone who can employ the little gray cells the way I do. Now pardon me while I tend to my mustache.

| | Mr. Poirot! Pleased to meet you!
I am MORTIFIED at my family's behavior at the ball last night! Now I'll never get that tall, good-looking man in the corner to respect me... not that I desire his respect, mind you.

I have a bit more in common with Hercule Piorot! I always wonder if I'm saying your name correctly, by the way.
You see, though I'm not very interested in socializing. I much prefer my flat, my old books and finding clues. I notice that you have a new servant girl? She seems rather clumsy. I know this by the inside of your left shoe - where I see the score marks caused by someone carelessly attempting to remove crusted mud.

| | A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Holmes.
I'm a neighbor of yours, the younger son of a duchess. Society looks upon me as a bit eccentric as I get mixed up in some rather bloody affairs. However, as long as I have Bunter with me to ensure my sherry is properly stored, I値l continue to spy for the British government and woo my gaudy Oxford love.

Sir, are you Lord Peter Wimsey?
***edit to add***
Okay, actually I know that is right - good one! I love Sayers, now I have a big to-read list going.
Here's mine.
I'm a journalist with a distinctive name, a distinctive face and even more distinctive (and prescient) pets. I'm a celebrity in my small Northern town - not only for my writings but for my involvement in more than a few local piccadillos. I also am a noted philanthropist, but you won't hear me talk much about that. My lady love is the head librarian and I'm a recovering alchoholic.

James Qwilleran! (I have an affection for anyone-- even a book character-- brave enough to put up with Siamese!!)
Who am I?
I am a feisty young lady-- half Irish-- and also the prettiest girl in the county (I look mighty fine in a green dress!) I am called a great flirt, but I use and abuse men so that I will never have to go hungry. I can't, however, seem to win the man I truly want... |

I love college. It's my first time out in the world. I hope to be an author someday, and practice by writing letters to the dear old long legged man who sent me here. Now, if he'd only write back. |

| | Bonjour, Madamoiselle Abbot. May I address you by your first name, Jerusha? Or would you prefer Judy?
As pour moi, I am many things - a soldier, a poet, a romantic. I am in love, but fear my affection can never be returned, for my looks are nowhere as beautiful as my words.

| | Ah, dear Cyrano, let your confidence be as large as your nose and you shall find your heart pleasantly surprised.
Me? I'd rather do without romance anymore. I left my husband at the end of the play because I couldn稚 stand being a pretty doll with an empty head any longer. It was said that when I slammed the door, it was heard by men and women around the world.

Me, I'm a tough guy with H of G and a smart mouth. I keep running into moral dilemmas , but that doesn't include the jerks I have to shoot. I have two sidekicks; one is black and one is beautiful (actually they're both beautiful). I operate in and around the Hub of the Universe.

| | (as soxfan) Nice to run into a fellow New Englander.
(as character) I'm a totally froody dude. I'm cruising the Universe in a real cool ship, hip English chick and two hitchhikers in tow (I could do without the Earthman, but the other one and I go way back). Now if I could only figure out why I stole the ship in the first place ... |

| | Hermione Granger from Harry Potter.
I am a preteen in a posh private school. My nanny quit to get married, and my friends are all angry with me because they read my journal and didn't like what I said about them. I love tomato sandwiches, and I want to be a writer when I grow up.

No, no, no ----Spenser, "like the poet". Sigh. It's a guy thing, never mind.
Hello, Harriet the Spy!
I am an eclectic writer with a transvestite friend named Roberta, a mom who was a nurse at the boarding school where I grew up and a whole boatload of introspection.
(P.S. - Don't blow the thread. Keep us on kids at private schools who want to be writers!) |

| | Bless you Garp. Before you showed up I was feeling rather inadequate.
I'm suffering from an identity problem. Some days I feel quite tall while other days I feel so very small. I'm on the move a lot but, I'm not sure where I'm going next. Perhaps a Yahoo search is in order.
