| | "Lost" was one of my favorite shows last season.
I'm interested in hearing what you think of the show, how the story is developing, and whether you are anticipating the new season.
In my opinion, the mysteries of the island are great for tantalizing viewers, but I've been enjoying the show all along for its clever and engaging storytelling. The character flashbacks had me very interested.
I just think the producers have found a fun way to tell these stories, and I'm willing to keep watching as long as they keep delivering on these characters.
How about you? Does it bother you, or engage you? |

I slay me.
Honestly - I watched a small tiny bit of the first episode and hated it. Never gave it a chance and was stunned to hear that it wasn't cancelled and that people actually love the show.
Same for The Closer. Brian and I watched about 10 minutes of one episode and turned it off. Then everyone here says they love it. I just can't get myself to watch anymore. |

Closer and Lost would be two of my top favorite shows, I think. |

| Anticipation.
An-ti-ci-pa-a-tion
Is making me wait.
Is keeping me wa-a-a-i-ting.
Really -- I love the show and am eagerly anticipating the new season.
BTW, did you know there's a whole geek aspect to it -- there's a website for "Oceanic Airlines," and if you play around with it, you get all sorts of clues! Hint: google for the "cursed" numbers, and then find various ways to use them on the site. http://www.oceanic-air.com/home.htm
Erik -- it's on network, not cable. (I don't have cable either.)
P.S. I never even heard of The Closer. What's that about? |

| | Re How do you find "Lost"? | | I tried to watch it. Then there was this stupid monster stuff and I got turned off.
If it just had the interpersonal relations, I'd have kept watching. But all the sci-fi stuff... or the hint of sci-fi stuff if it didn't turn out to be a monster... that just made me lose all interest. |

| | Re How do you find "Lost"? | | My friend Chuck didn't watch it last season.
He was intrigued, though, because I kept talking about it on my weblog.
He got so pulled in, he watched the whole of season 1 in a weekend after getting his hands on the DVDs.
So, if you rent 'em there's time. You can always tape this coming week's season premiere and watch it when you're done with the DVDs.
Netflix is a great way to watch a whole season of shows, but not so great if you're in a hurry.

| | Re How do you find "Lost"? | | Hey, JP!
Uh...Turn left at Greenland?
I love it! I love it! I love it! I can't believe that this time two days from now I will have been in the hatch. It seems like just yesterday my kids and I were sitting here on the couch saying, "Four months??? Four months??? We have to wait four months???"
I post as Vilya over at The Fuselage. Under the "Spoiler Theories" section tonight, someone posted, with regard to "the numbers," about Robert Anton Wilson. I was wondering how long it would take them to get to him. Kids these days! If you're not acquainted with him, google him. Google "Discordianism." Of course 23 is an important number! It adds up to 5!
It will be interesting to see if anyone here knows what I'm talking about.
My admiration for J.J. and Damon's ability to turn useless trivial minutae into gold grows by leaps and bounds every day. Damon's basically admitted that everything we've been whispering about with regard to the hatch (as I posted under the "Water Cooler") is true. Soon we will know the significance of Jack's tattoos. We will meet Locke's Helen (in the guise of Katy Sagal). Shannon will have her own flashback episode. Robert Patrick will be bad in Sawyer's life (or former life). We will find out how Hurley wound up in the looney bin. Rose will be back! Ana-Lucia will show herself. Vincent may even have his own episode. As for how long Charlie hangs onto the "H" before he uses it, I imagine he's been using it all summer. There will only be 23 episodes this season (there's that number again), but there may be some more than one hour. Arzt and Boone may be back in flashbacks.
I can't wait!
Anyone here watch "Big Brother 6"? I dont' usually watch reality shows, but the level of nastiness on this show is so unbelievable the only thing that will settle my stomach will be to find out that the contestants are really an improv group and have been acting for us. Yech!
BB,
Annie

| | Re How do you find "Lost"? | | I’m on the 5th DVD from the first season now (“Folks down on the beach might have been doctors and accountants a month ago...”) but won’t be able to see the rest of season one until after I’ve taped wednesday’s season two debut.
Yeah, I’m hooked. |

Oops - spillover from Fox's new show, Prison Break.
Sure, I'm faliliar with Wilson. Read the Illuminatus Trilogy back in college. And I know for sure that at least a couple of other people here know what you're talking about. We have a member who is a discordian (Eris). |

| | Re How do you find "Lost"? | | I set the VCR for Destination Lost and the season premiere Wednesday evening. Late night Wednesday and Thursday finished up Season One.
Finally got around to watching the tape tonight but it is a conspiracy. There was severe weather here Wednesday night so about 90% of Destination Lost (it was pretty much a recap of the first season???) and the first 15 minutes of the premiere were preempted by the weather guy. Aaaarrrggghhh..... |

I completely missed the recap as well, but figured that it was not a "must see."
The eposode began very confusingly with a peek at how Desmond lives. Of course, we had no idea who Desmond was. And we didn't see his face. Just some guy listening to Momma Cass on an old LP on his exercycle. And injecting himself with some drug using a pneumatic transdermal injector. Unitl he hears the explosion that blows the hatch off. Then he runs to hide behind some big spyglass-looking device (is it the thing that makes the light come out of the hatch?) that uses a bunch of mirrors and leads to the hatch.
My guess: he's hiding from the others, obsessed with the numbers (Hurley, beware) and he thinks the light protects him from them.
You also probably missed that Jack had to make a decision that allowed the guy in the van to die. His name was Rutherford, which happens to be Shannon's last name. Shannon's dad?
The woman, who we have seen once before, is Jacks wife. We heard the story of how they met at her wedding. It didn't occur to me until she started wiggling her toes who she was. It was a miracle, and that's how they fell in love.
So, Jack meets Desmond and miraculous healing happens. Just like Locke.
Very curious. And where did Kate go? |
