I actually saw it (on Weds???) when hubby was flipping around channels. It may have been during Law & Order. I started going OHOHOHOHOH and hubby just looked at me like "have you lost your mind or are you going into convulsions over there"
I said "IT'S RENT!!!!"
He's just not as thrilled with the prospect as I am. When I told him it is a musical, he just rolled his eyes.
I'm actually contemplating doing the whole "going and standing in line and seeing it opening night" thing. But I gotta find one of my friends to go with me, Dan will NEVER go.

Pippa, did you see Rosario Dawson on Leno tonite?  I was chillin' during the clip. I'm not a huge fan of the candle song, but the countdown begins!!!!

Whee! I have an alert set on Fandango for tickets to go on sale. Too bad there won't be any rush tickets for the movies.
The ENTIRE cast was on the Today show today and they did "No Day But Today" live. Squee!!! ONE WEEK!!!!!!!!!! |

Ok. I haven't hidden the fact that I really didn't like the play.
When I see commercials for the movie, though, I really like the music.
I'm thinking that perhaps I saw it with a lousy cast. I remember the music seemed very screamy and irritating and the acting was so so. I may need to check out the movie. |

You might have seen a bad cast. My experiences were with Toronto casts, and they were excellent. And, of course, the original soundtrack, which had 6 of 8 people you are seeing all over the talk shows right now. Taye Diggs is from here, which was what originally got me curious and the rest, as they say, is history. |

Man, I wish I would have caught the Today show!!! That song rocks.
I just found out we'll be traveling on Nov 23, so I'll miss opening night. I'd love to catch a showing on Thanksgiving day, however.....my sister would love it (my BIL would hate it  and I don't think Dan would care for it on several levels), so maybe we'll leave the kids with Nana and go see a flick.

G has his annual company "Let's play in the mud and make a huge mess" football game on the 23rd. I've already told him if there is no midnight show and he gets injured, it's D-I-V-O-R-C-E!!!!!!!!!!! |

I wasn't too fond of the play, but I've always loved Taye Diggs (never more than when he had that gorgeous Jamaica accent in "When Stella Got Her Groove Back.") And I've heard so much about Idina Menzel in "Wicked." And I'm a big "Law and Order" fan, so I love Jesse L. Martin. (I only saw Rosario Dawson in "Josie and the Pussycats" when my daughter was younger....and that probably wasn't her finest moment.)
The two clips I saw---one on a subway, one on the fire escape, seemed really cool.
Nevertheless, I saw a high school team do scenes at the Forensics competition Friday, and they were just dreadful...I couldn't believe their forensics coach would allow them to do a lesbian scene at a high school competition. They should have done "Seasons of Love" (and they did) with "One Song, Glory" or one of the other big hits, but a lot of times I guess it's determined by who can sing and who can't, and this team didn't have strong singers.
DD's forensics coach wouldn't let them do a scene where the word dam* was used. They have dress codes, and behavior codes, etc.
Her forensics team did scenes from "Wicked." And she was Galinda. Then she did Audrey from "Little Shop." (And in there, she did talk about being handcuffed a little....but it wasn't anywhere near what the "Rent" team did....) |

Taye Diggs is from Rochester. I'm always hoping to bump into him and Idina sometime when they visit. Of course, I'd probably do something embarrassing meeting her like cry or throw up, but still... I have hope. |

Just read this a.m. that Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel are married. Didn't know that. I think she'll make a fabulous Maureen, although I always picture Maureen as blonde.
Going to go check out Fandango over lunch today to see when (not if ) I can get tickets. If there's an early show on Weds, I may run out to see it before we travel.
