| | Hey George (and other fun folk)! OPA!!! | | Thought of you last night! Brian and I went to Taverna Opa.
I had told Brian about it, but I don't think her really believed me. It's a great Greek restaurant/club where everyone gets nuts and dances on the tables. Very good food, very fun atmosphere. A few belly dancers.
I think Brian really enjoyed watching the scantily clad 20-somethings dancing on the tables.
It's really fun! I'd love to go there with you and the Mrs and ALL my EA friends.
Of course, I wouldn't be scantily clad, but I would dance on the tables - I've done it before. OPA! |

Oh, the dancing girls. Never mind. Looks like a fun place. |

Galaktoboureko, a specialty of Ithaca, Greece, is a kind of custard pie encased in several layers of phyllo brushed with melted butter.

I'm really not a big fan of it, but my mom's is pretty good. She makes it in a flat tray, like brownies, not in the shape you see here. I've only ever seen it in squares before. |

| | Re Hey George (and other fun folk)! OPA!!! | | That sounds good. I love Greek food (or what little I know of it) but not Greek desserts - well not the ones I know. I don't like Baklava and Birds Nests and sticky honey desserts, but maybe I'd like this. When I eat Greek food, though, there usually isn't room left for dessert. The eggplant and spinach pie and grape leaves..... I know they have better names, but you've seen my spelling in English - no point of me trying to spell in Greek! |

| | Re Hey George (and other fun folk)! OPA!!! | | Hey, Sara, besides the saganaki and other stuff you would expect like dolmathes, they have pastitsio and Retsina.
I could hang out there for 4 or 5 hours.... |

| | Re Hey George (and other fun folk)! OPA!!! | | This desert is kind of sticky too, Wormie. It's those Greeks. They pour honey on anything. |

| | Re Hey George (and other fun folk)! OPA!!! | | I'm not a big fan of retsina, but I can certainly do the pastitsio.
And, I've never seen galactoboureko in pie form either. I always used to make it in a sheet. Haven't made it (or pastitsio for that matter) in years.
Of couse, now you have me Jonsing for dolmathes.

| | Re Hey George (and other fun folk)! OPA!!! | | Pastitsio, mmmmm! And they have lamb on the menu, too. That's hard to find around here. Dancing on the tables, ouzo and food that looks mouth-watering? Sounds good to me!

| | Re Hey George (and other fun folk)! OPA!!! | | Probably true...I was on the dance floor tonite before most of them...hell, I was dancing on the hayrack ride yesterday. But I'm not wearing one of those belly-baring outfits!

| | Re Hey George (and other fun folk)! OPA!!! | | Real Greek men pay attention to:
a) the hand they've been dealt in the Hearts game they're playing
b) how much ouzo is left in their glass
c) where is the rest of the food
The girls are for tourists. |

| | Re Hey George (and other fun folk)! OPA!!! | | The Greeks and the Lebanese hava a lot in common.
A LOT. Except with us it's "arak" instead of ouzo. Same anise seed flavor, though.
And we don't always pour honey on our phyllo desserts.
When you grow up with belly dancing, it becomes mundane.
