| | The trials of being a true geek in a pop geek world | | A coworker just mentioned that she thinks they should come out with a new "Lord of the Rings" movie. "Because," she says, "they should show what happens with that guy as king. That would be cool."
Nobody I work with understands why I'm flummoxed at this statement.
*sigh*

| | Re The trials of being a true geek in a pop geek world | | Oof.
*shiver* What a horrendously bad idea for a sequel.
Tell her to view the extended versions and remind her that they show what happens with him as king in the flash forwards with Arwen.

| | Re The trials of being a true geek in a pop geek world | | It's not like I'm actually a Tolkien fan. I've read the books, they dragged too much for me to really get into them. And I *gasp* fell asleep while watching the first two movies and I've never actually seen the third.
But still, some things are just WRONG.

| | Re The trials of being a true geek in a pop geek world | | ROFL - you're worse than me! I actually enjoyed the movies.
Just never been able to read the books. I did finally make it through Hobbit a couple of years ago (after trying several times over the years) but only about 1/3 of the way through the first of the Fellowship books.

| | Re The trials of being a true geek in a pop geek world | | In the books they do touch on 'what happens afterward', but I think you have to read parts of the Simarillion(sp?) to get all the info. Really kind of sad, what happens to Arwen. |

| | Re The trials of being a true geek in a pop geek world | | They should make a prequel to show the years between Bilbo's finding of the ring and the passing of the ring to Frodo.
Yeah, that would make a good movie, too. |

| | Re The trials of being a true geek in a pop geek world | | They did kind of touch on Arwen & Aragorn's future in the film of "The Two Towers." From the Appendices of "Return of the King." The book.
Anyone know any forums for Truly Needy Geeks? I feel totally left out at "The Fuselage," and "Sondheim.Com" refuses to answer my applications. I'm a Truly Needy Geek. Help!

Annie

BB,
Annie | Ooof. That is sort of sad. You'd think the "truly" might be a key adjective.

| | Re The trials of being a true geek in a pop geek world | | I'm still aghast at the idea of a sequel to Lord of the Rings.
I'm having real trouble with that one.
(And actually, Tolkien does cover what happens to the entire Fellowship in the appendices.)
I fall asleep sometimes while reading, too, but it has more to do with how recently I ate than it does with what I'm reading. | | |
