I hate Stephen King

Arg.

Love, hate, love, hate.

Today I hate him.

I couldn't remember if anyone else here reads Dark Tower (Leslie, Jeff, maybe?). I'm in the middle of #7, so don't want any spoilers, but I am sick and tired of sobbing over characters in a book!!!!!!!

I really should not think of them as my family members, should I? Just because I've invested 20 years of my life in reading about them!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Eighth book has already been written. And you're right. Somebody does die in it.

I didn't mourn Susan in 'salems Lot, but it was tragic.
I was sad when Jack went crazy and got eaten by the hotel in The Shining.
I hated losing Larry in The Stand.
And Charlie's dad in Firestarter. And the kid in Cujo (dammit what was his name?). And Susan Delgado.

etc., etc., etc.,

Okay, so he does kill off his main characters in every book. That's actually part of the reason I do like his work...it's not all "and they all lived happily ever after."

But this just hurts.

There is no eighth book. #7 is the end of the series.

Read them all. Was unimpressed with the story from the time horrid Suzanna became a character to the end. One bad, pointless character given too much page time ruins a book.

Roland just buried Jake. He's in the hotel with Irene (actually he, Irene and Oy are sitting on the curb outside the hotel, but it's pretty bleak right now!!!)

It took me a long, long time to get into this book. I actually wrote Steve a letter again this a.m., which I would like to post on eps if I can figure out where. But in the body of the letter, I say:

See, I liked Susannah. But then again, I loved Wizard and Glass and most people didn't. Which is weird for me because I usually hate love stories and that's all Wizard and Glass really was.

I cried when they killed Susan Delgado too.

Even the 4th or 5th time I read the book.
