A worthy endeavor...

For those not aware, they are collecting *all* of Theodore Sturgeon's shorter writings in a series of anthologies (they're currently up to 10 volumes so far.)

A complete listing of the titles.

I picked up the first volume at the library, the boyfriend got to it before I did, he plowed through it and picked up the second volume (have I mentioned that the man reads too fast?) and I've just finished the first volume. There are some very fine stories in there, even the ones that were never actually published before.

Sturgeon did make his name as a science fiction writer, but like Heinlein, got his start writing in several different genres, and his stories usually end up being more about the people involved than about starships and such. Definately worth picking up. And hey, it's short stories (some of them short shorts). If you don't like one, you can always skip it and go on the next.

Re A worthy endeavor...

One of my favorite book titles is Cavier by Theodore Sturgeon (an anthology of his short stories). I have not read anything by him in probably 40 years, and I still remember how impressed I was with his writing style.

Re A worthy endeavor...

I did read one of Sturgeon's anthologies which was available at the local library (Selected Stories). I enjoyed them so much that I have checked out another (Alien Cargo). I enjoy reading his comments deposited before every story. Very likeable. So, although I haven't found the volumes you noted, I have found a very enjoyable author. Thanks.
