Cool I was Desperate before, but now I'm reaching Desperation...

Stephen King's Desperation is coming.....

Of the two "twin" books (Desperation "by" King, Regulators "by" Bachman), it was the better, I think. That opinion gets turned depending on which of the books I'm reading...it was an interesting concept in which the main characters were in both stories, but roles were reversed (Mom and Dad in one book were the kids in the other and vice-versa).

Set in the desert, it tells the story of a doomed family who breaks down near the town of Desperation...and are promptly catapulted into a classic King-esque alternate universe of blood and gore.

I'm hoping it's as true to the story as network TV can be (pretty freaking gory).

I really didn't like these books too much. And, I generally am not crazy about King's things taken to the big or small screen.

Really? I liked both of them quite well. I always read them together, and depending on which one I read first, that's the one I like better at the time.

As far as King's work to the screen...Pet Sematary scared the living crap out of me, on page as well as on screen. Ask Max...I wouldn't take my hands off my face for most of it.

I do think Green Mile was done exceptionally well...anything else (including The Shining) is okay. Always, always, always prefer the book over the film version.

Shawshank Redemption was a GREAT movie. Heck I think I actually liked the movie better than the novella.

Let me know if Desperation's worth watching, Lynn, and I'll try to catch it when it comes out on DVD. Are they doing a mini-series or just a movie? Cause that's a whole lotta book to cram into two tiny little hours.

We liked Shawshank, and we generally don't like King.

I'll let you know how it is, Eris. Didn't catch if it was a mini-series or one night Stand (I crack myself up) but it would have to be at least two nights, I'm thinking.

IMDB link to who's who.

Tak. :shudder:
